The Nashville Skyline Cumberland & Tennessee Rivers Crui

Jim,
I cannot answer about downloading them to an I pad. I believe that they will run on I Navix, and Max Sea Marine navigation. I have the Navoinics charts, as well as Aqua Map USA, I also have the free version of SEAiq, but it is clunky, and I don't use it. The Aqua Map, and no longer updated Garmin Blue Chart app have both the charts and a tie e captain information. The Navionics app, the Aqua Map and Blue Charts all act as chart plotters and the charts are as good as the corp.

I also printed out the charts for the Cumberland, in the part we are traversing. I already have the Tennessee $15 nice laminated chart book...I like to have paper back up.

I have RayMarine chart plotters on the C Dory 25, and both of those have Navionics chips which include the entire system of inland rivers and lakes, as well as coastal. Also both of the chart plotters will replicate what is on the chart plotter on the I pad via wifi (including radar, sonar and navigation--plus one can control the chart plotter/MFD from the iPad.

Ive downloaded garmin active captain Sea nav ,Aqua map sea pilot which would be the best to pay and use ?
I went to app store for apple and Aqua map comes up for $19.99 is tha a good one to have .
I used to have a Android tablet which got misplaced or taken ?? with the navionics charts which seemed ok

If I was just going for one, I would say Aqua Map. It is cheap, has both raster and vector scans of the charts and up to date Active Captain.

For the chart detail, Navionics. But its a river--Navionics claims to make 2000 corrections a day to their charts...but that is world wide, and I doubt that few are made on the rivers...

I got it Thanks .how do i set up active captain does that work with Aqua maps ?
I used to have navionics on a tablet but that was borrowed from my car (stolen)
Dr Bob hope to see you in Sept depending on the Hurricane gods jim

You should be able to go to settings and turn on Active Captain. An account or sign in is only if you want to make posts on Active Captain (change information, update information or put in new information.) Garmin says that they have "resolved" the sign in for Active Captain--I have not confirmed that.

Aqua Map, you need to upload the "Tiles" to your device. The charts I have take up 3 gig, but I have a fair number of both coast and the inland lakes/rivers. Under Settings there is a section for Active Captain--sign in, frequency of update etc.

As much as I'd love to do this trip, I'm having some second thoughts with some changes to my wife's work schedule and with some personal preferences with the Lake Powell gathering I had originally planned on attending. Nothing is set in stone yet, other than the Mississippi River gathering at Alton the weekend after Labor Day. At this time Jim, I'm pretty sure if I did join you guys on the Rivers here, I would NOT need parking at the place you arranged, as I would likely join up a day or two later. I know you asked us to get back to you a while back regarding parking. If there are others that would like to join you on this endeavor, I would definitely back out. (I know you prefer a limited number of boats.) Colby

Thanks Colby for the update. Sounds like you have committed to too many C-Dory events. We cut back on other boating events so we could prioritize for just a few special endeavors.

I am getting my truck worked on today to get set for the 2,500 mile drive to Granville, Tennessee. We are leaving a few days early so we can enjoy the long drive through 7 or 8 states.

We will likely leave Sacramento September 1st on our drive. We should be in Granville on Saturday, September 8th in plenty of time to leave the dock Monday, September 10th at 8:00 AM so we can get through the first Cordell Hull Lock & Dam.

We are looking forward to this trip. Kathy enjoyed our Snake and Columbia Rivers cruise and she is looking forward to this adventure.

There is some interesting scenery between here and there depending on the route you take out. Enjoy the trip and safe travels! I am a probably going to be joining the Lake Powell gathering. It just works out better with our calendar and my preferences. I love being able to trailer my boat and continue to put many miles on my trailer with little time at home in between! I had a blast with you guys on the Delta and West Coast river trips. Would still like to do the Catalina Island gathering some time. Just haven’t figured out a way yet to be in two places at the same time! :( If it works out, consider stopping one day at the Alton Illinois gathering just to meet some of the central coast folks. It’s probably not far off your route anyway! Colby

Hey Jim can we get an itinerary of we’re we will be each night Also we will be up there on the 9th so we can park our trailer thanks Jim W

Jim.

Where we will be staying every night is on the float plan that I thought we had sent to you. A link was also posed on this thread to our float plan. If you do not find it give me your email and I will send it to you. Thanks.

Dear All:

We will be leaving next Saturday (9/1) to start our road trip to Granville, Tennessee. Kath and I are getting excited about this trip and we are looking forward to it.

Dr. Bob has arranged some exciting activities for us when we tour Nashville. A local C-Dory owner (Bill) that lives in Nashville has graciously offered to host us in his home City. We are looking forward to these activities and having a local host.

Please be ready to leave Granville Marina promptly on Monday September 10th at 8:00 AM. We will have reservations to cross the Cordell Hull Lock that day about 10:00 AM. That Monday (9/10) is our biggest mileage day of the whole trip at 83 NM in order to get to Shady Cove Marina Monday night.

We will be taking our truck and trailer to Mike Waggoner's farm in Granville on Sunday afternoon, September 9th.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Granville, Tennessee!

Safe travels!
Although we won't be with the group, we are stealing your careful research so we don't have to do any...or not much. And I thought I was a bit O.C. disorder!
PS I thought rivers were marked in statute miles, not NM (nothing much nautical about the Army Corps of Engineers, vs the Navy's 200 years of Tradition Un-Impeded by Progress, as AF pilots like to say...but their runways don't move about much).
Best,
John

Jim, safe travels to you and the rest making the road trip out. I'll miss joining you guys this time, but look forward to hearing about the trip. If you do get ahead of schedule on your road trip, you would be more than welcome to stop in to visit with those of us at the Alton gathering. Enjoy that road trip out also! Colby

The credit goes to BillE, who only a little over 2 months ago bought his first C Dory; a 25, which he is using in the Nashville area. We met they at the last Apalachicola gathering in 2016. They live right downtown in Nashville--and will help all of us on the cruise enjoy the Nashville area. They have also arranged for our second night to be at a Yacht Club a little ways out of the city, probably a welcome relief after a night right in the middle of one of America's great cities! We are also looking forward to seeing their "New" 25!

Thanks to BillE and his wife!

On our side, we have just finished up all of the work on our "new" 25, have loaded the gear, and are starting to put on food for our month trip. E/H brakes go on the trailer monday, and I hope to get "air helper springs" and an upgraded transmission cooler on the Yukon early this next week.

Looking forward to seeing everybody! I need to get a list of how many people, and their contact info, and how many boats, and the sizes. We will provide a BBQ dinner at the Yacht Club marina on Thursday night, leaving Wednesday night for everyone to explore downtown Nashville. The YC will charge $1/foot plus electric if desired. There are clean toilets and showers with AC if you want a break from the boat. There is also ethanol-free gasoline and a pump out station available. The YC is not near any attractions other than a WalMart shopping center a couple of miles away but if you need anything we can drive you there.

Bill:

There will be 6 C-Dorys, and 11 persons total. There are 4 (22'), 1 (23'), and 1 (25').

There is Jim & Kath on Pounder, Floyd & Eiko on Far C'r, Bob and Marie on Thataway, Lew on Cat Claw, Jim & Loree on Jenny Katz, and John and Kitty on Firefly.

We will arrive Shelby Street Bridge Transient Dock on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 12th. On Thursday, September 13th we would be pleased to stay at your yacht club (Mile marker 172).

Bill, thank you for all your efforts to host our flotilla. We appreciate the Southern hospitality. You may call me at (916) 799-0286 if you need further information.

Thanks Bill!! Great offer! I will send you the contact information by e-mail. I specifically invite you to come down and look at our 25, and we would to love to see your 25. I doubt that we will do any partying, but we may visit with our relatives who live in Brentwood and central Nashville. Also do you have any suggestions for great restaurants near the downtown dock?

Any dietary restrictions in the group? Any vegans?
We are planning a Southern BBQ dinner focused on Pork and Chicken but can accommodate most anything if given notice.
Anyone is welcome to PM me and let me know what you need.
