Brats,

The Joy of Fishing on Fox Sports NW Ch 687 on Direct TV aired an Elfin Cove episode with our own Brat Ken this morning and it looks like might air again on Wednesday. This show was filmed in 2007 but it was what we experienced in 2009 on our Inside Passage trip culminating with our visit to Elfin Cove to see Ken. I called Ken this morning to pitch him some smack. I said "Ken! That was awesome! It gave me goose bumps!" Ken said "Ya me too!"

just watched the video link. I'm enrolling in cooking schools soon. I just wish they would have shown some king fishing. The water looked great as did the surrounding area.

cool, that was my first tour of duty of there. Those guys where filming their fishing adventures and hoping to get enough of a collection to sell to a tv channel....good to see that they made it...the guy doing the camera work was a short, wide human & always in the way, I threatend to rig up a rod holder on the camera boom he was wearing.

D & D, this show depicts an experience that is similiar to yours but not quite.....you recieved more verbal abuse. :)

I keep bugging the boss as to how many years I have to work there before he gives me that boat, I don't think it will happen though

Tom, if my random access memory is not fried, it seemed that those guys where all about the butts, they had a lot of footage of salmon and steelhead from other trips.

Dee here. Watching that show brought back great memories of our trip last year. It was so cool fishing in Alaska with Captain Ken and he put us on halibut, salmon, and some other bottom fish. Great fun!

Well that was pretty danged awesome. Looks like paradise to me.

Larry,

It's been awhile. Yes, Elfin Cove is a very magical part of SE Alaska. For us the fishing was just a part of the experience. Just getting there was an adventure for us. We tried in 2007 with the Knotty C but got the crud beat out of us in Icy Strait (small craft warnings) and had to cancel the Elfin Cove part of the trip. In 2009 we made it all the way from Bellingham, WA to surprise Ken in Elfin Cove. The Lodge and entire operation is first class. Our next trip we are thinking of trailering the Knotty C to Skagway, make our way through Pelican and down the outside to Sitka. And of course visit Elfin Cove again!

Don, ya I'm back in the brat pack.... in the process of buying a little 16' angler for dinking around here locally.
It wore me out watching them haul in that 435 lb'er. That was a team effort for sure. That'll give me fodder for a few daydreams. :)

damn Dee, you're making me blush...I'll square up with you later for that paid testimonial :) It was sure a surprise when you folks showed up, had a great time .

Larry! just yesterday I was wondering how you and Helen where doing. It's good to hear you're getting over your pike minnow overdose and may do some boating & fishing again.

Elfin Cove paradise ? itmay be a little short on sun and overstocked on rain & fog to earn paradise status but, as Don & Dee, Jay & Jolee, Dr Bob, C-Roamer David, the reef madness crew and a few others can attest, it's definitely a special place

btw- there was a halibut brought in last summer that taped out to be over 500# that's a big flounder

A sweet 16, how cool is that!

By golly Ken, I see that you're a dadburned movie star now. Helen and I are doing fine, we'll be finer when I finally get that new to us 16 footer in the garage... then I'm going back to harass more of those squawfish. We concluded that we don't need a boaterhome with the camper on the pickup, so this should be just the ticket for us. Keep in touch.
