The end to a long journey...

It has been a while since I've started a new thread here, but I thought some of you might enjoy this:

A remarkable day on the water: today, the USS Independence aircraft carrier made it's final journey, into the Port of Brownsville - 16,000 miles from Bremerton, Washington, around South America (too big for the Panama Canal), and into US waters, where it was turned (it is being towed) and headed down the Brownsville Ship Channel (where it will be dismantled). We made it a point to be out there...

What a trip. Thanks for posting that Jim. Just happens I watched as they towed it past Port Townsend and around Point Wilson. I knew it was going to be a long trip. What a ride for the old girl. Sad to see her go. 16,000 miles at about 6 knots. Some logistics involved in that trip.
