Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

The End of the Affair, set in London during and just after World War II, is the story of a flourishing love affair between Maurice Bendrix and Sarah Miles. After a violent episode at Maurice’s apartment, Sarah suddenly and without explanation breaks off the affair.

This very intimate story about what actually constitutes love is enhanced by Firth's narration. “This book struck me very, very particularly at the time when I read it," he said, "and I thought my familiarity with it would give the journey a personal slant.”

It depends on which side of the fence you are standing.

It might be totally irrelevant and waste of time and good reason to buy a new keyboard with the delete key bigger than the Enter key.

On the flip side, many folks listen to audiobooks at home, in the car, at work, boating, crusing, fishing, etc because they have devices such as mp3 enabled radios, iphone, iPad, iTouch, etc and enjoy them and due to time constraints, work and family obligations cant read as many books as they wish and find audiobooks help fill the void. I listen to them regulary on the daily commute and while excerisng and have previously posted offers and recommendations previously. This is an $18 value if purchased unless you are Audible subscriber then you can select it as one of your free book or books per month.

Going deeper and trying to save time and hopefully if you read this far, it is a good story on several levels IMHO plus Mr Firth does an outstanding narration.

Lastly, I thought it was worth it's salt to share and another way to enjoy your iDevice

Perhaps I am mistaken but it is posted in the General Chat section. I followed the just be nice philosophy and was not political, hateful, mean spiited, disrepectable, ....
maybe irrelevant but I am repeating myself

Compared to the wide range of insignificant, unreasonable, argumentative, colorful and useless material to grace this site in the 9+ years I've been here this hardly raises an eyebrow, Brent.

While it is not the best audiobook and content, I definetly enjoyed Mr Firth's delivery. It sounded genuine to me and was a good opportunity to appreciate Graham Greene as an excellent author and story teller.

.. and the price is right

If one looks at the upper portion of the "thread" there is a caption that says "General Chat".
Although Brent's post has apparently nothing to do with boats, our site designers created a forum entitled "General Chat". The "General Chat" forum was created so members could discuss anything that was of interest to them and they felt that others in our community might likewise have an interest in.
When we go to C-Brat gatherings the individual conversations are not just about C-Dorys or boats but include conversations about families and other subjects of interest in of our lives.
The above being said, even though I don't listen to audiobooks, I realize that some do and I thank Brent for his willingness to share.

Ahaaaa! General chat. I should have looked closer.

No problem...just one of the intricacies of our C-Brat Family site....

You should have seen the postings in 2003 when this site first originated....very little pertained to boating....

Hey wait a minute. It certainly does pertain to boating. Some of us like to just sit there at anchor and read, others like to open a can of beans and enjoy Busch's finest. It's no less related to boating than a discussion about fly tying or a shot out of the hole. I know a guy with a 22 footer who trailers it to the ramp, motors to a quiet cove, drops the anchor and sleeps away afternoon. Good for him, them, and us.

I don't know about all of the rest of you, but for me, and, I'm sure, many others, some of these "off topic" discussions among friends seem to bind us together much tighter than just another boating topic, and I'm quite happy to be in the same boat with my many C-Brat friends.

Joe. :teeth :thup

Did we ever get the single engine versus twin engine thing settled? That would be fun to rehash that again for the 10000th time.  :beer
D.D.

Oh, single engined CD's suck and twins are the very very best!

Totally agree! You and I even agree on the Twin 50's (Even though mine are Johnsons......however in reality my Johnsons are actually Suzukis like yours but with the white covers that says "Johnson").

How about bringing up whether perma-trims are needed or not?
No problem about the book discussion. It did stir up the pot a little and makes good fun on the site. Much better than more romney-obama; obama-romney on TV. Will it ever stop? The Canadians have the best idea..30 days and it is over.
This is under General Chat...............

“We are all in the same boat in a stormy sea, and we owe each other a terrible loyalty.”
G. K. Chesterton quote

All in the same boat? Now that is funny-- because your not in the same boat-- you don't own a C-Dory-- so where is your loyalty?
Chromer's right- you seem to post "adds" for a lot of product.
