The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

And, finished! My apologies to any of you folks who clicked here expecting to see some "adventures". I'm like a little kid with Christmas decorating - and we've been having a lot of fun getting Wild Blue all gussied up.

And, a 3/4 view...

LightHseUp2E.jpg

Normally we'd take the decorations down the morning after the parade so we can start using the boat again. There is a lighted golf cart parade (for people who chase a ball around a pasture instead of something sensible, like boating - go figure) on Monday evening. Joan suggested we keep Wild Blue decorated until then.

So, I promise no more "coverage" of the boat decorating, but maybe there'll be something about the parade by Sunday.

Happy Holidays!

Adventure is all in the individual opinion of the difinition. It would seem to us that yours and Joan's life is a continuing adventure and very pleased you are willing to share it with all of us here.

You've got a winner with that decorated boat even if it doesn't take a prize. Again fantastic photos.

As always, nice images. Is that a Photoshopped moon :?: :?: :?: I'm inclined to think so because there is no reflection in the 2nd shot...

Warren

Different angle entirely, Warren. No moon from that angle, the reflection would be on the near side of the canal, and not show much in the second image. If you look real close, you can see that the side of the boat nearest the moon is actually picking up some of that pretty diffused light. Look at the reflection in the water on the second shot, and you will see a very slight glow from the moon; just barely visible below and to the right of the reflected lights. Hope that explains it.

Oh, and did anyone consult the current moon phase? 8)

I'm a busy guy, Warren... don't have time to wait for the moon. Besides, you were supposed to be looking at the cool lights on Wild Blue. :xtongue

Is this more to your liking?

You'll have to click on it to see the "real" thing.

I bet you're the kinda guy who stands by Santa in the mall and says, "Check his beard, kids. Ask to see some ID. I bet he doesn't really live at the North Pole."

My job was to create the image. I made pretty girls look prettier. Take 20 pounds off? No problem. Trim that waist? Easy. It's all about the image, my friend. I can turn day into night. Float a car in the air. And just for you, I'd move the stars and the moon. 8)

So there, ya old SCROOGE!

Best wishes,
Jim

ok where did you get the light house. I showed it to susan and now she is searching the net for one. She is going to drive me crazy decorating the dam boat.

We went to Lowe's to look for material to build a lighthouse... and they had a great selection of inflatable yard decorations. It just so happens that this was one of them. It wasn't on display, but there were two of them on the shelf. I snatched up one right away - this was gonna save me a bunch of time and probably look better than anything I'd build.

They also had a Santa in a hammock, wearing an Aloha shirt and shorts... just my style! :xlol But Joan was really wanting to do something with a lighthouse.

More nice comments tonight from the neighbors. Very light wind. That's not going to be the case for the parade, though. I may change our theme from "Lighting the way for Santa" to "A Christmas Miracle", 'cause it'll be a miracle if this thing makes it through a big wind. :xnaughty

Good luck with the boat decorating, Tom! It's big fun. :D

Happy Holidays,
Jim

Tom,

If you google - christmas inflatable lighthouse you get a lot of links to the same thing Jim bought at Lowes - see this one for example.

You'll have to photoshop in your own moon.

Thanks jim and roger, susan finally found it a while I was watching tv. but now she sayes that its been done and i have to come up with somthing else so its back to the drawing board.

I've gotten a couple e-mails about the photos. If there's enough interest, I will post a Photoshop lesson (next week) on how the decorated boat photo was made. It took about 20 minutes from shooting the image to work-up to posting here; it will take a lot longer than that to document and explain each step... but, you may find the process interesting.

Yes, a FREE web-seminar just for the C-Brats. And when I'm done disecting the image, Warren will come on and spill the beans about the Tooth Fairy.

Drop a post here if you're interested. Off topic, so I hope this is OK with Mike and Bill.

Best wishes,
Jim

Jimbo,
I have a new Nikon D40 stocking stuffer in route from the North Pole as we speak and plan on getting back into photography after being on hiatis for the past 40 years. I would be very interested in anything you could teach me....and by the way...Judy read your 5200 reply and carried out your instructions to a tee. Thanks a lot buddy.

PS:....Anything that makes for better photos of our boats could never be off topic in my openion.

Jim,

I use CS3 but the boss uses Photoshop Elements 5 -- seems very adequate to me -- lots of bells and whistles.

Sure admire your talent!!! D300 on order, but that ain't gonna make me a better photog -- just easier for old eyeballs.

I'm watchin for the thread "Photography 101" with your handle starting it! :thup

Hi Caty,

I'll get something posted next week at the latest. It won't be an "intro" lesson with that lighted boat image, but I will explain how to go from a very basic shot to that final result.

Best wishes,
Jim
