The cost of foam rubber

Hello friends...

My wife and I are having the cushions on our CD22 redone. We were told yesterday that the qty of new foam (just regular foam) we needed would cost $1,600. That is more than the fabric or labor put together!!

Is this really true? Is this a by-product of the high price of oil?

Does anyone have a source of foam for replacing in our cushions and v-berth that won't cost so much money?
