The Coast Guard would NOT love this guy....

Be hard to maintain a 360 wheelhouse watch from that position, and a good sized following wake might be a real thrill ride. He probably needs some attention.

Somebody Coast Guard etc needs to put him ashore permanently. that thing is a threat to public safety as it could very well cause folks to go to extreme efforts trying to come to the aid of what they think is a sinking boat not to mention the tax dollars spent when USCG or other agency goes to rescue him.

Just how does a sailboat sink? I'm still looking for sails. After looking at the pictures in the slip, backing into the fairway must be fun.

There's an outboard hole visible in one of the pictures of the boat hanging from a crane. For a sailboat to sink like this, a large portion of the keel would come out of the water. In general a sailboats keel will keep the sinking sailboat nice and level... all the way to the bottom. Near me in western Long Island Sound there's a sunken sailboat (approx. 20-22 foot LOA) with the mast about 6 inches from the waters surface. The mast is perfectly vertical. The boat probably has a swing keel for it to sit level on the bottom.

Oh come on, I think the guy used alot of imagination and skill to build somthing like that. And as long as he is not out doing dumb a$$ed stuff with it,cool You want to put people ashore permanently put all the jet skiers that buzz around at 60 mph, or the idiots that drag water skiers through swimming areas. Maybe even the guy that thinks he can slip between a tug and the barge being towed. Just my opinion

Chuck, I can appreciate the creativity, work etc that went into it, but for me, it's just not a wise idea nor functional at all. Like I said; eye of the beholder.
