The biggest fender on a C-Dory 22...

ORCA

New member
Hi

We just ad some "fenders" on ORCA... :shock:

These are my 21.5' x 2.5' long Hypalon® pontoons from my 2006 Yukon River Catamaran... :D

That will give ORCA a lot of flotation.... :wink: :wink:
I think that will compensate the lost flotation under the v-berth....

And it is mutch safer now to go around the boat :wink:

I don't know how to ad pictures here :( so they are in my album.....

Regards Chris

Looking real good. Safety factor way up. Way to go!!!!

I think you will hold the record for biggest fenders from here on out.

Your Mokai is identical to ours. We're going this weekend on the Snake River, Idaho to try it out. We have a radar so had to mount it further back and up right. Should be easier for you to get it on and off with the fenders.

Appreciate you keeping us updated on your progress. Has been very interesting and informative.

I think some of your former doubters are now believers.

Chris – how did you mount the pontoons?

I am starting to get excited about this expedition and I am not even going.

Here is your picture.

Chris,
Can you take those fenders off the boat for towing?? If not then you might need to check the maximum allowed width.

Every time I go near a dock now I am going to wish I had those !!!!

Merv

Grumpy : I don't know about allowable width but I am sure that the folks on the road with me while I am towing Papillon wish I had those fenders on her.

Hi
@ Merv
Yes, we can fold them down and carry them in the aft of the boat...
They are hypalon tubes you just have to blow them up... :shock:
@ Dave
We will use straps. Two under the boat and 6 around the boat (on cleats)...
The same system I used on the yukon river for 2250 miles... :shock:
We had big waves, wind ect... NO PROBLEM...

Worked just fine, and we wont go fast on our trip anyway... :wink:

@Warren
Yup, thats damn right... :wink:

@Jay
Have fun with the Mokai...
Hope you told them that you find them on my website... :D
Sponsors always like that.... :wink:

@Brent
Yup, thats the idea...
Not a bad idea to paint them like a shark, or an ORCA.... :D

Chris

I did tell the folks at Mokia that you gave me the idea. They said both of ours shipped about the same time and we both chose the green color.

Hope they work well for us both.

Jay

Hi Jay

They will, its to mutch fun with those mokai's..... :lol:

Now we can go up any side stream, fishing will be good from now one... :wink:

Regards Chris

Chris, I don't know what to say...I looked at your wed site and could not believe the pictures....All are great ...I guess some of the posts are in german and i wish i could read them or either you spell like i do.. Keep us posted on your adventure...Great web site and i recommend everyone to click on to it.....tucker

Hi C-Brats

Well,we wont mount the pontoons on our orca :cry:

To do it right we would have to mount some cleats or D-rings, just above the waterline,
I don't want to do that, we just don't have enough time anymore to do it right...

So, no big fenders :cry: :cry: :cry:

If anybody is interested in the 6,50 M (21.32546 foot ) pontoons, they are for sale!

regards from Kalkaska, MI

Chris
