Tell me why i shoudlnt attach this ladder to my boat

If it is backed up properly it should be ok. However, I don't know that the gunwales are wide enough for the mount. Also, when the ladder is stowed it flips over the top of the attach mounts. It would seem that this would stick over the gunwale and into the cockpit at an awkward angle.

I have one mounted on the starboard side of my 22’. Works great. I go out alone and want a way back in if something goes wrong. Check my album for setup. I have a rope with a handle looped around it so I can deploy it from the water. Sometimes when tubing with the kids I forget it’s there but never broke it off yet.

I have one on the transom of my 16 because I solo a lot. It required the fabrication of a support. If I put the kicker on that side, I can't use the ladder. Also, if the engine is turned all the way to that side, it interferes with pulling the ladder down. More photos in my album.

I have one of these attached to the bow of my boat on the port side. I put it there for two reasons. It allows me to climb in and out of the boat when we go ashore bow in. It might be useful in a rescue situation where I do not want to pick up the swimmer at the stern due to danger from the prop. So far it has been useful and I would recommend it. We also have a ladder that folds up under the stern swim step.

what did you guys use to mount it with? it came with a bolt setup, do you guys think i can screw into it with some 3/4inch screws and it will hold? (there are 4 screws )

Depends on where you put it. It should be through bolted with a backing plate or large washers. You should over cut and fill the holes with epoxy and filler to prevent water ingress.

I would not use just 3/4" screws.

here is a pic of the Sensei that has that ladder mounted on the bow
you can get a better close up in the photo album
it is pic # 46 i believe

I have that exact ladder attached to my bow. It is heavy duty and sturdy. Where I mounted it is pretty thick, but I did put some large fender washers in front of the nuts. I use it to get on and off the boat when I beach it. Colby
