Just a question, has anyone taken the black rubber steering wheel cover off to expose an all stainless steel steering wheel. I have always wanted one on our 22' C-dory but have been hesitant to try and take it off. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have not taken the rubber type material off, but is is nice to have on. I have owned a number of boat with "Destroyer" wheels, and the metal is cold and hard to the touch--so I ended up covering them with laced on leather...

I would wonder what the underlying SS is like, and if it is polished as a purpose built SS wheel is? Also the diameter of the pipe may not be as comfortable on your hand grip.

I have the all SS "Destroyer" wheel and I don't care for the cold or the hot...slick feel...on my danty little hands.

I cut away a section of the black rubber in order to install a speed knob, and although this was a few years ago, my recollection is that the shiny metal underneath was identical to the shiny metal that isn't normally covered with rubber.
