Guess it's not too early to start thinking about the Fourth.... I run a Joint Venture Company that supports (about 80 people) the construction of the LPD 21 Class, (one of several contracts) at the Northrop Grumman Shipyard in New Orleans. They will be building ten ships of this class. Here is the latest, technically not a "USS" yet as it's not in commission but out in the Gulf on Builders trials, it's first time underway.

This is the NEW YORK and part of the stem (bow) of the ship was constructed of steel from the Twin Towers that fell on 9-11. The steel was trucked to New Orleans a few years ago. NEW YORK is the 5th ship of the class.

I think it can make us all proud!

Nice touch with the steel from the twin towers. It does make me proud.

It begs the questions: How did you resolve the twins vs single issue?
 
Nice! Very cool it has some steel from the WTC...

Somewhat related...The Blue Angels will be making a high speed/low altitude pass over Boston today between 1:30 and 2:30 weather permitting for a photo op.
