Hello all
It has been a while since we checked in, only because we have been so busy getting the Susan Marie on the water (in between working).
July 27 put in at Port Angeles boat haven and fished all day. No kings but hooked a lot of Silvers and were able to take home a few.
Aug 2 & 3 put in at John Wayne Marina in Sequim and ran to Port Townsend. We explored Fort Worden, Fort Townsend, toured Point hudson and Boat Haven Marinas. Then we moored up at Fort Flagler State Park to spend our first night on our C-Dory. We slept great and then in the morning went to Mystery Bay State Park and then back out and around the outside of protection island and to the Dungeness light house. We saw a Minke Whale in between the island and light house. then fished for a while with no hook ups before heading back in to John Wayne Marina.
Aug 9 & 10 went to Sekiu and spent two nights on the boat and two days fishing. We saw a school of porpous at Pillar Point and brought home 3 Kings and 5 Silvers.
We have seen other C-Dorys along the way but have not met up with any C-Brats that we know of on the water as of yet.
This Sunday we will be fishing out of Port Angeles again.
Next weekend we hope to spend the night at Sequim Bay State park with two of our grandsons, and hang out and give boat rides to some other family members. If any of you are in the area stop in and say hi.

Yup, that's what it's all about, boating, fishing, family and friends. Nice writeup. Thanks.

You need to post some pictures of the boat and the fish. sounds like you are having a great time with the boat. I wanted to name my boat Susan Marie but My father inlaw gave Susan the middle name of Eugenie. just did not sound right.

The Susan Eugenie sounds very regal, Tom!

Once again it has been some time since checking in to the site. We have been very busy enjoying the summer and our recently acquired C-Dory.
We took another fishing trip to Port Angeles. We took my daughter this time for her first fishing trip in about ten years. She caught a silver and it was the only fish on this trip. We thought we had a really slow day, but the fish checkers said ours was the only fish they had seen all day.
We took two of our grandsons on an overnight trip to Sequim bay state park and had a great time. Our daughter brought our other two grandchildren down on Sunday and we took them all for a cruise around the bay.
We had the pleasure of meeting Harvey from the Sleepy-C while we were pulling out and had a very nice chat with him.
the following week we had a nice dinner with a small group of C-Brats at the Black Bear Dinner in Sequim.
Sep 5,6 &7 went to Sekiu again for two nights and two days of limit out fishing.
Oct 4 & 5th were spent in Port Angeles for two more days of limit out fishing
We took a week long trip in our Truck Camper to the San Juans. we had scheduled and payed for this trip before we bought our boat and we felt we needed a little more time to get ready for cruising the C-Dory to the Islands. We did spend a good bit of time scouting out the marinas in the area and will be looking forward to the spring when we will be going by water.
Next weekend we will be towing the C-Dory to Lake Crescent for a nice long fresh water bath before putting it away for the winter in the new pole barn that was recently completed for the sole purpose of housing the Susan Marie.
We had 13 great days on the water with this boat in between working. The more we used it the more we wanted to use it some more.
Summer went by fast, but I will enjoy spending time in the winter making some mods on the boat to make it more efficient for cruising and doing research for next summers trips.

Cheers to all

Doug and Susan

Doug and Susan,

Looks like you have really been on the water and doing well. That's the whole idea. Boat, fish and enjoy.

Good to see you. and get to meet. Enjoy Lake Crescent.

That's where I took the maiden voyage in my 22, so it will always have a special feeling for me. Gorgeous spot!

Sounds like you plan to head out for a cruise while you are there, but just to mention it, while I was there a couple of people pulled in to the ramp, backed their boats in, and started the engines, then shortly pulled back out again - apparently they were stopping in for a "rinse" on their way back from salt water. A ranger came by and apparently that is not cool there. Of course a cruise is! :D

Sweet! That will be grand.

Yes and I can understand this regulations, as there would be an endless stream of fishing boats returning from La Push and Sekiu if this were allowed. We will enjoy a nice cruise on the lake and get the boat rinsed and flushed more thoroughly than I can do it at home. This lake is also where I took my first ride on our boat during the presale Marine survey.
We were very lucky to get the barn up so fast. The builder just happened to have a few days open due to a complication they experienced on another job and they were able to get ours done just in time for winter. It will be so much better than a cover.
