Sub Zero Temps

I moved to Fairbanks in 1963. Drove my air cooled Corvair up from Wisc. That winter me and the bottom of the Corvair got real familiar when I was pushing a 2x8 with a heat lamp on it under the engine. Hooooo boy what a mistake that Corvair was up there. Many nights it was -50F or colder.
Today we drove from Anchorage to Ninilchik to visit our C-Dory. It got down to -31F on our way down.

breausaw.......I belong to the Tudor Alaska Club. Is that where you go???

Sure hoped to see you guys down at the SBS 09. I promise I won't complain about the temps here unless at least it gets down to 0-F. (Gotta cut me a little slack for not living north of the boarder.)

unce upon a time I had great aspirations of becoming an Alaskan citizen. moved up to Fairbanks in mid January. had a job working in a plumbing shop back room cutting and threading pipe. when I got up there the temps were in the
minus 30 range but within the week went down to the minus 50's and below. it was just way to cold for this washingtonian and so moved back down in Febuary.
at least I tried....lol....

Yea Roger, Though you're stay in Alaska was abbreviated due to the frigid
weather the legacy and tales you generated while here are prominent in
Fairbanks folklore. The legend lives on!

Hay Jack,
There are two Tudor road Alaska clubs.

I do the East Tudor road club weekends so the kids can use the pool, Midtown Tudor during the week, occasionally go the West for there spin class, and take the kids to the South club when the open swim hours at East don’t work.

Look for a medium height, middle aged, somewhat over weight guy with a beard and glasses sweating his ass off in the Cardio Theater. :smilep

If the temp outside ever gets above 10F this weekend I’ll be dragging the family off for a snowshoe. :thup
