Stowable generator bracket

EU2000 bracket is done! Redsigned clips make mounting easier, distance above the waterline is now 15.5". Wire lock pins (not stainless) for the shelf support were used instead of custom made SS pins.
 
Larry, you are welcome anytime after the 3rd because the boat is in the Potomac River, VA now.

As for the flares, if they are used you can have them.

Hmmmm? What's the boat doing on the Potomac? That's where we did our "test drive" on Thelma Lou!
We'll be back from the Cumberland on the 6th, so I'll give you a call later on that week.
These brackets rely on the rub rail for support Patrick...do you have any rub rail left? :lol:
 
We have a working prototype for a 22 footer (circa 1994) that attaches via the lazarette opening (hatch will close and lock), and a prototype for a 2007 25 footer that hangs from the cockpit rails! Both have been sized to the Honda EU2000.
Neither have been tested on the water yet, but I don't expect them to hang too low to the water.
I need a late model 22 footer to mock up yet another bracket, as their hatch covers are different than my 94 model.

Larry thats really a neat and creative idea. I'm curious what the clips that hold it to the boat look like. I'm surprised the hatch will still close. I really like the idea of no holes to drill and I see and aluminum boarding ladder made the same way as a neat idea. I find the swim step boarding ladder hard to use when with my limited mobility climbing over the motor well is a chore. Nice work!

PCator (Patrick) will have some pics soon I hope, of the 25 footer bracket.
He took it for a test fit yesterday, brought it back and said that it fit his rail fine...so we finished welding it up.
The 25' hooks over the SS cockpit rail, and the verticle support rests against the rub rail about midway , which puts the shelf height at roughly 8" below the rub rail

The clips are made from 1/8" thick SS flat bar, and my hatches are the older design, simple fiberglass lids over a beveled lip that's molded in the deck...not like the later models.
The 25 clips use the same flat bar, only fashioned to "clip" around the boats rail.
Both clip designs are weled to SS hinge so that they will fold flat like the rest of the bracket, for easy stowage. Pins that secure the shelf support when in use...are also used to secure the bracket when folded flat

That looks great Dave!...and it looks like it could be left there without worry (while cruising).
I don't have enough room for that design on my 22 with twins, even with a single...my cooler rack would be in the way, and my camper enclosure would come close to trapping the fumes inside (my enclosure is unique).
Isn't it wonderful that so many ideas get shared here among the Brats!
