FINALLY :thup :thup

Our 93 C-Dory 22 Cruiser is ready to be launched this next week. As I have said before she is NOT or will she ever be a beauty queen. I have had the fluff and puff of some nice boats in the past. This old gal should get us there and back safely. She came out of Southern California and has had some sun in the past - a LOT of sun! The main problem with the boat was the mechanics who had worked on her during the past 20 years.

I completely gutted the boat. All of the instruments - OUT; the electrical panel OUT; water tank, lines and foot pump OUT along with the faucet and sink. The alcohol stove and ice box - OUT. I removed the steering wheel and pulled the steering gear and cable OUT. Also removed the mast head light and mast. I removed both fuel tanks and dumped the old gas, then cleaned and re-installed them. The entire boat was a mess. Twenty years of accumulated hair, food, crumbs, lint, dead bugs and more! Yuk!!

R-MATEY is now powered with a new Honda 90 hp, at approxilmately $11,063. Some money, Yes, but what is our life and safety worth? I could go on with a list of the new equipment (which does include a new trailer) but I won't. Bottom line, around $38,000. A new C-Dory, right at $70,000.

And the ability to be on the water, safely ...... Priceless.

Hope we get to cross wakes along the way sometime ......soon.

Congrats on the new R-Matey,

Harvey

A 20 year old C-Dory hull, brand new Honda EFI and a brand new trailer, the perfect combination! We did the same on our 16. Now just enjoy it on the water. Congratulations.

I would trust any boat Joe redid over any brand new boat. Now, we expect to have Ruth post some photos and cruising tales. :thup :thup

Best wishes,
Jim

Great job Ruth and Joe! Lots of work and worthwhile. Another resurrected c dory. Enjoy. George and Carolyn. (Hanging out in Powell River. Desolation Sound next week)

Joe, not only are you and Ruth two of our favorite people, but I am in aw of what you can accomplish, on your own, at home. Can't wait to see you both, and check out your talented handy-work!

Many thanks to everyone for the nice responses. We're looking forward to some new adventures with this C-Dory and spending more time with our C-Brat friends.

We are out in the old R-matey right now for night 8 and having a great time. You two are starting fresh which is fun and that shiny new motor makes us a little jealous although the 75 is still purring along. Going through a boat like that is such a good refresher on the details and builds trust in the boat. What kind of chartplotter are you two planning to use?

See you out there,

So happy that you're having a great time with Ari. She's an awesome boat and we love what you've done with her :thup Don't know how the 75 was maintained after we sold the boat but she was always serviced as required and then some.

As for the chart plotter, we purchased a Garmin 740. I think that the 19 was originally set up with a Garmin 176C. That screen was very small and we could hardly read it. So we're looking forward to using the 740.

Hope to see you on the water, too :thup

Being on the water - or at C-Brat Gatherings - and knowing Joe and Ruth might be there too makes it a much more pleasant place to be. Glad you are both back.

Best of luck and safe cruising w/ the "new to you" boat.

Take care,
Dan, Tanya, and Hannah on C-Renity

I enjoyed looking through your album and perusing the projects on your new 22. Looks like enjoyable times ahead (both for you and for any C-Brats you cruise with).
