Stern rail CD-25

Looking to put a rail on the stern area of the cockpit, just across the engine well. (Saw one at FH, but don't remember whose boat it was on)

The area is a little too "open" for my liking, especially considering our grandaughter will join us on some trips and she's just shy of 3 yrs old. It will also give us a rail to attach a small table for BBQing, adult beverages, pupus etc. I'm basically gonna make it match the existing cockpit rails, with enough room on each end for one person to get around it; this for access to the swim step/kicker motor. Found a S/S rail maker in Everett but now I'm looking for ways/suggestions on how to attach it. I'd kinda like to be able to remove it, if possible, but that's not mandatory. Looked at rail attachments in the Fisheries catalog and none seemed to be the correct angle.

I give, tried to post a picture but no go.
Mark, we have a rail and has worked well for us. I have the first one installed on a new 25. Bill on Soulmate has a newer one that is a little better designed. I am not sure were he got his, mine was installed by EQ Marine.

The Les-designed, Railmakers, NW-built stern rail for the 25 is great. I discovered it in Seahooked's album and Chris pointed me to David at Railmakers. I have connected mine to the boat's factory stern rails to further stabilize it for the Magma Catalina grill. A by-product was an arm rest for the stern seats. Honestly, I have never understood why more 25 owners have not been interested in this rail. It is perfectly designed for stability and for motor-tilted-up clearance. The quality is outstanding, and I found David very easy to work with. For instance, after receiving the rail, I mentioned interest in a backer plate for the mounting bolts. David thought it sounded like a good idea, and a short time later, they just showed up in the mail at no charge. As far as I know, they still have the specs, jigs, programs, etc. to produce the rail. As a one off piece mine was fairly expensive -- I don't recall the price -- but as a production item the cost would drop. This is a modification I would not do without.

Regards to all,
Greg

I had mine made by Railmakers in Everett. I talked to C-Dory when we had ours built and told them I was surprised they didn't put them on all of their boats. Thanks to whoever posted the picture of our stern rail.

Thanks, all. Ironcially, David @ Railmakers is exactly who I was refering to. I dropped off some patterns for my brother (a bow rail for his sailboat project) and spoke briefly to David. He didn't mention fabing any for any other 25 but now that I have this info....Mahalo again.
