Stereo Speaker Placement in the TomCat

I notice in the albums that many mount speakers in the chart shelf or on the fiberglass near the starboard window. But with that speaker right next to your head, there can't be much stereo image, if any.

Has anyone come up with a placement that allows some level of stereo image at the helm, or is the captain destined to a mono life on the water?

In my 22, I've attached my plastic boxed speakers to the cabin roof in the rear using 5200. I tried 4200, but they eventually fell off.

However...I'm guessing the 5200 had less to do with it working, than the suggestion to use acetone on the speaker boxes before the second attempt at adhering them. The acetone roughed up the plastic quite a bit, which certainly helped with the bonding. 4200 might have worked fine had I done this originally.

Speakers sound great mounted in the back - much better than up front.

Ours are mounted on the outside windshield piller. To get sterio, you just give more power to the port speaker and less to the Stb speaker. I am sure that aft would work, but I enjoy the music more than Marie, and she sits aft. Also the speakers forward are closer to your ears...

The speakers that fill the cabin of "Sea Shift" with joyous :note music :note are located wherever Carol and Jessica are seated..... :smilep .

When I'm alone, the music that fills the cabin is not very enchanting, however, neither is the choice of songs......

That's an idea. In the TomCat, though, the starboard speaker would be up against the head, and the port mounted above the seat. Still it might be a good option

That too would work, but I am concerned about how loud that would be for those sitting port.

I installed my four channel stereo + sub-woofer in the cabin cabinet enclosures - they produce significant stereo imaging.
That's also interesting. I'm going to ponder that.

Thanks to all for the replies. :)

Ours are mounted along the port and starboard side of the front window along the frame. The best stereo sound is of course in the middle of the cabin with this configuration.

Ah if only the tomcat had it helm in the middle!

Seriously, I much prefer helms in the middle. :)
