Steering

Does the C-Dory have hydraulic steering? Is it an option? Is it necessary or preferred? Also will the new Marinaut 215 come with the hydraulic steering? I'm from the sailboat world so please be patient with me.
 
Most of the early 22's came with manual steering. Some of the newer 22's have hyraulic--the 25's and Tom Cats have hyraulic (Sea Star). You can certainly replace the manual with hydraulic. In engines less than 150 hp you can use the Bay Start smaller unit, rather than the Sea Star.

Sorry, no tiller option--except maybe on the 16--but that would defeat the purpose of the cabin. Many of us are ex sailboaters.
 
I replaced my factory manual steering with Sea Star so I could run the boat on an S1000 autopilot. It was not a difficult job. I think the kit was around $900. The AP was about the same. Nice to only have to fill and bleed the system once. Not sure if you can run the AP on Bay Star.
