Starboard in Anchorage?

I bought some there last summer. If you can wait a couple weeks, I'm heading to Homer at the end of the month and can drop it off. I work about a block from there.

tpbrady.. Are you going fishing in Homer? I may have to take you up on your offer. I need to call them and get some prices. I'm going to make some sort of transom box with a cutting board on top. Still trying to come up with a way to fit it without hitting the Yami 75 in the up position. Thinking about putting in a splash well cover and placing the cutting table on top of it on hinges. This way I can fold it down towards the cabin when not in use.

Catdogcat PUHLEEZE take lots of photos during construction and post them in your album like you did with that excellent C-22 floorboard project.

I sure will Sneaks. I have not seen a transom box with a decent sized cutting table that accommodates the larger 4 stroke motors. If I'm wrong please point me to a pic of one. I did see a pic where someone made a nice molded box from his transom. Turned out really nice but I need it to be flush with the top so I don't have to bend over all the time.

That's correct on the fishing. While I normally hate clam tides, a couple of us are on a mission to find steamers (probably China Poot) and since they have fishing licenses, we will look for some halibut.

On the starboard, all I know is that it's not cheap. Either place is real close to where I work.

Hmm Clams. I just so happen to love clams. Mind if I tag along? I've never been to China Poot Bay and would love to check it out. I know Halibut cove is decent but has a tricky tide. Mcdonald spit is decent but easily accessible. I'm going to call about the Starboard tomorrow. Man I really hope it warms up soon.

You probably know more about finding steamers than me. This is mainly exporatory so I would appreciate the help. I'll be staying in Ninilchik Friday night and then heading Homer Saturday morning. The low is at 1018 in Seldovia so we should probably adjust times from there.

I wish it would warm up some too. Last night it looked and felt more like October.

Are you talking about Sat on the 29th? I'm going to do my best to make it weather permitting of coarse. I'll head out Friday night and spend the night tied up to the Jackaloff Bay state dock. That is if you want to clam around that area. Mcdonald spit and China Poot are both pretty close.

Both Mcdonald Spit and China Poot have state docks nearby. Just let me know witch one you want to try clamming at. I would prefer Mcdonald Spit just because I've been there before. I am totally up for trying new places though. Also Mcdonald spit is closer to the Halibut fishing. Are you thinking about trying for some winter Kings? Bluff Point should be good this time of year.

Could not resist reading your thread as the Sundog crew is heading down to Seldovia on the 29th of April to stay for a week. We will be in the harbor in Transient and will have a room above the store. We are going to stay through Thursday chasing the halibut and possibly do some clamming. We did really good for Steamers in Sadie Cove last year.

Maybe see you on the water.

Joe

Sundog, thanks for the tip on the inflatable. Ended up getting a Tomcat from Alaska Raft & Kayak. Cool to hear you'll be in Seldovia that weekend. I've been wanting to get the lowdown on those Ling spots. Would love to come and chat with you Friday night if you don't mind.

Would be glad to hook up with you.

I will not likelymake it over to Seldovia until Saturday morning some time - but will be there all week.

Joe

Won't be able to make it Saturday morn. I will have a full boat of kids, bikes for riding around town and coolers of food for the group. We will need to get to Seldovia and unload to our room and then turn the boat into a clamming / fishing machine - I do hope to get an afternoon slack in at least outside of the harbor for some halibut if you are up for that.

Joe

We'll be looking for some halibut after stalking the clams in the afternoon. I normally fish somewhere just outside Seldovia so will look for you when we get out that way.

Thanks for all the leads guys. I think I need to hold off on this stuff. OMG is it expensive. A 4'X4' sheet @ 3/4" is over $400.00. I can't afford that. I'm going to shop around for some huge cutting boards. Maybe I'll get lucky. Also going to look around the cannerys for some used stuff, they have tons of it. If I have to I'll make it out of plywood and fiberglass.
