Hi everyone ! Larry and I are taking off for St.Mary's Ga and Fernandina Beach Florida. We talked to Marvin on the CFLE about fishing down there. Hopefully there will be fewer fish when we leave from there. LOL Anyone else going that way or interested in going..give me a shout. We plan on leaving Wednesday morning. It's only a 7 hour drive from us. Take care all.. Tracy :D

The weather has been beautiful here the last week. 70's during the day and 50's at night water temperature has been in the low 60's. Larry And Tracy have a history of being followed by rain so perhaps the curse will be broken this trip  For those not familiar with the area St Mary's is and old fishing village and mill town. The paper mill has been shut down for many years. Kings Bay Nuclear Sub base is there also as is Cumberland Island with it's beautiful beaches and wild horse's and other wildlife. It's only assessable by water. Cumberland has a rich history and most of the Island is designated a state park and run by the park service. Fernandina is a Shrimping Village and home of whats said to be the Oldest Bar in America "The Palace Saloon" and many nice art's and crafts shops and restaurants are right on the waterfront walking distance from the city run marina and mooring field. It's also know as Amelia Island. Just 20 mile south where I live is Nassau Sound where the world record flounder was caught and a big time nesting ground for turtles. This time of year speckled trout, redfish and flounder are biting pretty good so perhaps Dragonfly will get something besides and eel this trip :P Manatee's have all migrated south for the warm water so they won't be able to catch any. Contrary to what others have said they taste like "pork". Both Fernandina and St Mary's are favorite stop overs for crusiers doing the ICW and have nice marinas. Fun times ahead!

We plan to stay a week if....and it's a big IF the rain don't come along with us. LOL I sure hope we do see some nice fish while we are down there ! Larry would be a happy camper if he could catch a big one :D . I have no problem window shopping in nice little towns ! :xlol We will be leaving early tomorrow morning .Talk to you soon Marvin...take care all.
Tracy :D

What are you guys fishing for and How? How are you rigged? I always want to hear how others are set up for different species. I may not get down there but it I ever do I want to know what I'm doing. Take lots of pictures of those finned guys and post them.

Wow St. Mary's is a nice quite place with a really nice water front. Cumberland Island is a treasure all by it's self ! I have not seen a beach so pretty and white since I was a small girl in NC. Larry and I were the first ones to walk on it today. That was late morning when we arrived. The wild horses were walking all over the place not worried about us at all. We had one grazing on spanish moss not 5 ft from us while we sat on the front porch of the ranger station. I could spend all week walking that beach and never get tired of seeing the view ! Tonight we are at Fernandina Beach Florida. What a nice town this is. Some very interesting shops and stores to walk along and peek in side. Tomorrow Larry and Marvin hope to catch some monsters while I go walking around town. Take care , :D Tracy

Got your email... wish we could have joined in. I'm still in a cast and not able to get on our boat! Ah well... it'll make winter bot trips that much more glorious. Have fun!

Hi Tom
Sorry to hear your still stuck in a cast. You guys will have to have a really good trip planned for when your "free" again to roam the waters. Take care, Tracy

I met Larry around 8 this morning and we fished our hearts out and didn't get so much as a bite, not even from a noseeum. We thought about going to the fish market and renting a nice big trout to take pictures with but Larry said the guy at the market told him the trout were imported from NC because it was illegal to sell locally caught trout. Talk about adding insult to injury they could have probably stayed in NC and caught some :(
Aside from no fish it was a great morning with really nice weather and great company.

Well Marvin and Larry didn't catch any whales but I had a very...uh good window shopping, people watching day ! So many folks here to just sit and watch from all over the place. Our neighbors are from Canada on both sides. This morning after Larry and Marvin left a huge cruise ship put in on the outside of the fuel docks. Then later a really nice Yacht come in . It slide into place like butter on bread ! I was hoping for a small show but didn't get one. The show will be when we try to leave here it the morning without hitting any other boats on our way out of this maze they put us in ! Taking a little rest just now from all the walking and historic tours. Later will be fresh shrimp, fish and wine for me of course . Then off to St. Augustine in the morning. Thanks to Marvin for taking Larry fishing this morning :thup :thup He had a good time fishing even without the fish. LOL Take care all... Tracy :D

Take pictures in St. Augustine!!! Man we wish we were with y'all. We already have our eyes on Jan or Feb trip down. So, should I barbeque some nice NC trout tomorrow in your honor?

Tom , Sure you can cook NC Trout in honor of Larry and Marvin. I'll be eating Datil Seafood Pasta at the Conch House tomorrow night ! Nothing better than that on a cool day ! You'll find out in Jan if you go down . Best Pasta and seafood with a real Kick ! Datil's are mostly grown in St.Augustine and they don't like to share their datil seeds with anyone ! LOL I will take a lot of photos and share them with you guys. Too bad we couldn't figure out how to tie a float onto your cast and get you on the boat ! Take care have a great weekend ! Tracy

Hey we always bring rain to Florida and we are really sorry to have brought the Freeze warning with us as well.. We plan to leave St.Augustine tomorrow heading back to St.Mary's slowly fishing our way by to the truck . LOL We are used to the rain when we come down here but freeze warning?! Time go to home and sit by the fire and await warmer days.. :? Oh and Tom..the food at the Conch house...? Terrific ! No Marvin we didn't see the shuttle but it was cloudy on the way down from Fernandina. Take carfe all.. Tracy

Hey we needed the rain but not the freeze. We saw the shuttle here. There's some neat pictures of it on the Hull Truth site. Saw you come by this AM but I was still half asleep and my body parts weren't working well enough to come out.

We just got back from 10 days on the "space coast"--and saw the launch from Kennedy Space center. Despite looking, we didn't see any C Dories the entire trip.

I'll throw some photos I took up tomarrow. This was the last scheduled night launch of this series. The current fleet is to be retired in 2010, and then no more launchs from the US until about 2015--there was some optimism at the center than the program might be speeded up--but I suspect that will not happen.

There was a beautiful moon which arose about an hour before the shuttle launch. Truely a beautiful evening....better seen from a boat!
