somebody probably bumped their head crawling into the V-berth in a drunken state....or Maryland

joel calm down. its public info for a reason. it we read and find out the the suit is over lets say a bad transom or a bad hull and it turns out that the courts find that hull numbers 0001 to 0009 are bad or could be bad and you have one you would like to know right???? this is part of the system that keep private business honest. With out the possibility of reprisals many would get away with what ever they can. history has shown this over and over. So joel us looking at this is good. Hell maybe we will find out that the guy suing is pulling a fast one but with out looking at the PUBLIC information we will never know.

OK then this is how I read this whole debockle and man am I steamed up !
C-Dory has installed old Pinto gas tanks in boats with hull numbers 00001 ~ 00009 and its none of my damn business !
What's next ??? Will they be telling me my Walas is made in China ?
I might as well go out in the river and pull the plug !
CYA ALL.

A few years ago I was waiting for a flight in an airport talking to a gentleman who was on his way to a business owner's convention. He was in the roofing business. As we talked about business and the pitfalls of ownership he told me one of the main topics of discussion at the convention would be liability laws. If I remember correctly he said on average small business owners are sued once every 3 years. It isn't a matter of if they will be sued, but when and how often. A company the size of Microsoft is sued multiple times each day. Recently Microsoft agreed to pay the EU over one billion dollars in fines over a law suit. There are law firms that specialize in suing Microsoft, that's about all they do.

So, if you are in business you will get sued. Most likely it's a case of C-Dory and a dealer not acting fast enough for a disgruntled customer. Often suits are files to light a fire under someone, to get them to respond to a complaint. Hopefully this kind of thing won't wreck the company.

I owned an ultralight airplane with a 2Si (two stroke international) engine. After one wrongful death suit (just being filed) the company pulled their engines off the aircraft market and refused to sell them or parts to aircraft manufacturers or owners. It’s something to think about. Suits like this are our business; they affect us in ways we can't imagine.

Hopefully this will be worked out by the courts and we can then find out if it concerns us and in what way.

In the meantime, I kindly suggest we drop this least it turn into a contested issue.

So let's get back to boating technology at it's best:

Now what was that you said about how to conceal rocking motion and wave making at night in crowded anchorages?

Joe. :smileo

Edited several times to be thoughtful to my friends.

maybe if the wallas was made in china the dam thing would work and I could get a manual with it that was worth the paper it was written on.

all products have problem and a good business fixes those problems and from what I have seen c-dory has always done that. This maybe a problem with cutter marine and c-dory is along for the ride.

Gosh, guys I didn't mean to start a p..... contest. I have a big investment in CDory and it's sitting in the driveway. It did interest me and I thought someone might know something about this. I really didn't expect people to make guesses, wise cracks or tell me it was none of my business. So, I am going to be quiet.

Patrick

I diden't mean to be rude.... sorry if I offended you... things sometimes hurt feelings when they trully are not ment to be brash.

Patrick, I'll be disapointed if you "be quiet". As a C Dory owner I appreciate the fact that you brought this to my attention. This information is not likely to effect me at this time since I own an older boat, but I do have dreams of a new boat sometime in my future.
I follow the QC posts, and anything related to current model issues, and you have posted something that interests me a great deal.
Hopefully I'm intellegent enough to follow the outcome and come to my own conclusion.
Let's face it, if I'm picky enough to read about hidden galvanized brackets ...then why would I not want to know about any lawsuits that are pending.

Okay so let it stop here

David, with all due respect, I agree with you if your meaning suggests that we stay on topic, and examine the link that has been brought to our attention, or disregard it as we are free to choose, rather than suggest that it's none of our business.
This internet stuff is rather unforgiving, but that doesn't mean that we have to be that way.

Hey folks!....

It's not that many of us don't think the suit's relevant, it's just that we've been exposed to enough criticism, bickering, fault-finding, and generally negative discussions recently and don't see any point getting into endless speculation about this matter at this time, especially in light of the sensitivities heightened by the recent political discussions, of which, admittedly, many of us were a part.

It's often been said that we're just like a big extended family here on the C-Brat site, and there's definitely a sense of community and mutual respect among our members. Some of my best friends are here. I hope you feel the same way.

We've learned, unfortunately, through trial and error, that certain topics and discussions can lead to unfortunate interchanges between family members that are disruptive to our general well being. It hurts our family to argue and fight.

Even topics that are seen to be basicly objective and generally important to everyone get old and hard to listen to because they distract so much from the basic positive thrust of our enjoyment of each other's company and C-Dory ownership.

Not that we want to avoid the truth, but we come here to enjoy ourselves, not negotiate a peace.

That is not to say that we can't be parties to objective and rational discussions abut a variety of topics, boating and otherwise. We've done this all along.

We're all aware that we're all mature, intelligent, thoughtful folks, with personal viewpoints on countless subjects, but I'm sure most of us right now feel that there's no point of starting a discussion that seems like it could well lead down the road from objectivity to the type of discourse and differences that we've recently exposed ourselves to.

The members of our family need a time out. We need time to mend fences and re-establish the positive feelings, sense of community, and wholeness that we are seeking in being here.

There's really nothing wrong with discussing the suit, it's just that the majority of us aren't ready to do it right now, especially since it's mostly just speculation anyway.

We've had difficult issues for the C-Brat family to deal with before, and we'll deal effectively with this one, whatever eventually becomes of it.

But for now, I'm ready for a break!

Cheers!

Joe. :smile
