Solo c-dory owners?

I'm married with a kid but I single hand on my C-Dory all the time! I troll, jig, longline, shrimp, crab, etc etc etc, all by myself.

I was pulling my longline in an unscheduled blow the other day solo. It was kind of hairy with big waves hitting the stern hauling ground gear still on the bottom. The splashwell filled up, but I stayed dry and got home safe!

I've singlehanded power boats just over 30' and that was not much fun. The 22' is no problem.

Hi Sherona,

I see you're in NC! if you're not all that familiar with C-Dories, I'd be glad to show you what you're in for. We're in Oak Island/Southport.

Hope we didn't scare Sherona off... Just going thru some of the old threads as I too wonder where Sunbeam has been... To answer the first post, while married, I still do a lot of boat travel by myself; at least solo on the boat anyway. And while that's fine in some well known waters, it's always a preferred pleasure to join up with others on cruises. Safety in numbers is the best way to state it. Very much enjoy the C-Brat gatherings, but it's also nice to travel with just a few other boats. Easier to find dock and anchorage space, while still having the safety in numbers, and socialization with others. Colby

I remember this thread and I'm surprised I didn't respond to it. I'm a young professional (35 y.o, maybe I can't call myself young anymore!). Still single and loving it (although Im dating again.  )

I do lots of solo boating and find it very enjoyable. Although I also enjoy having friends and family aboard. Just today I went out with some friends on my new boat and had a blast. However I think there are LOTS of solo boaters out there, actually I know there are. I just met a young finance guy yesterday who lives on his new Viking sportfisher in Boston and doesn't even fish! But he cruises all over the Mass. coast primarily solo.

To the Sunbeam point....Yeah, I hope she's okay. That's crazy that she stopped posting on here so abruptly. Anyone know her or ever met her before? Telephone number?

As to the Sunbeam question. Yes, as far as I know she is OK, just moved on to RVing. I talked to her a few months back, I believe after this thread came up, and she still owns her boat, which is probably the most fixed up and technically perfect 22 on the planet, and she still is planning to put it into the water somewhere.

As to Sharona, looks like she may have moved on too.

I still do mostly single handing, but this year there have been some other priorities so the boat has not been out as much as I like.
