Sold - 2003 19 Angler "R-MATEY" $23,500 (WA)

Good morning C-Brats!

Wow! What wonderful responses to the ad about selling our beloved 19 angler, R-MATEY. She is a wonderful boat and has given us many awesome experiences. Just removing her name yesterday was indeed a very sad moment.

The next R-MATEY will be a 2007 22 CD Cruiser. This will be our third C-Dory. Yes, we do need treatment, maybe a 12 step program or some type of spray but we're actually trying to keep up with Fred, who's lost count of how many C-Dorys he's owns or has owned. The bigger C-Dory will allow us to introduce our grandsons to some new adventures in their lives. So you're not getting rid of the cake lady or the guy who keeps R-MATEY shipshape.

Believe me, this plan was not in the works ten days ago. We'll keep you posted on how everything is moving along. We're excited!

Now that's the way to buy a C-Dory! I must admit I thought perhaps you guys were moving up to a 16 footer, but, then I realized you're still young.
Sorry to see the beautiful R-Matey go. It, like it's crew, is very special.

I was shocked when I read the title of this thread. What would the C-Brat community be with out you two?
I'm glad to know you have anouther boat in the works. I hope everything works out for you. I can just see Joe trying to put a 22 footer in your garage.
Enjoy the time with the grandkids, I know your a positive influence on those young men.
ps. A special thanks to Joe for helping me out at Bellingham :rose

Great! Now I don't have to beat Tom over the head which is good because frankly, I think he can take me. Sorry for hijacking the thread with the concern for you guys so back to regular business.

As has been said before, whoever buys this boat will get a great one. The custom bulkhead that Joe built makes this unique amongst 19's and as others have pointed out, this boat is clean and has seen the best of care. If I was in the market for a 19, I'd jump on this one.

Whoa, thanks for setting us straight Joe and Ruth! I'm so glad you're selling R-Matey to move up to a bigger C-Dory. I was worried for a moment. I couldn't fathom going to a CBGT without you two there.

Congratulations!!!

Wow! This thread certainly caught my eye.
While I was afraid of the worst I suspected there was a happy ending.
I can't wait to see how their lucky 22 footer gets outfitted. Judging from their sweet 19 it will be very nice.

just to cut off speculations I did not sell my boat yet. I wish I could leave my boat at Joes for a week of cleaning and shining but susan has forbid me from parking it in front of there house, you know just to see what would happen.

As for the R-maty, man what a nice boat. if you want a 19 and like to cruise or fish in the winter this is the boat for you. With the wonderful bulk head that Joe built the R--maty is truley a all year 19 ft boat.

And I wish I could see you TRY to leave the Susan E in front of Joe and Ruth's house - it would be amusing to the max. But I suspect you already know that...and sorry for the inside joke here, but I couldn't resist!

You had me going there for awhile also! This is great news and I am looking forward to seeing all the wonderful things you will be doing to your new 22. :D Spit and polish of course, but most likely many other wonderful touches...

As somewhat of a newbie, did I hear you have a 22 previously? I purchased mine thinking the same thoughts about grandkids, but so far the parents are very protective, which hopefully will not last too long

We will be most eager to see your 22 :!: What will her name be? :?:

Pat is that a challenge?? Never bet a marine.. Let’s see where can I get a helo and a sling??? Maybe a lift-all would do.. Susan keeps hiding my "chemical earth removal" supplies so blasting is out... I will get back to you..

Thanks Anne and everyone else...sure didn't expect so many wonderful replies to our ad.

But to answer your question, our first C-Dory was a 1985 22 angler which made a surprise appearance at the Friday Harbor CBGT. Our 19 angler has been so much fun but family circumstances call for a change, so back to a 22.

Our grandsons are ten and twelve. Their father who had his first boat ride when he was three months old doesn't have any concerns about the boys being around the water. Thanks goodness!

The present name on the newly acquired 22 cruiser will be removed and following all proper procedures she'll be named R-MATEY.

Joe & Ruth,
Wonderful news about your new acquisition. Now drag it down to Lake Powell next month so you can break it in nicely. Hope to see you soon.

Happy to see a post from you but sad to say we won't be making Lake Powell this year. Have already been having a discussion about going there in 2010. That'd be fun! Thanks for thinking of us

WOW, did I find this late :!: Took me half way through the 2nd page before I almost had a heart attack, (just can't stand suspense), though maybe Alfred Hitchcock was orchestrating the thread. So now, Congratulations on the new R-Matey (II). Ruth and Joe, like C-Dorys (Thanks Pat) and water. Probably have to change some laws of physics or something for them to not have a boat or be C-Brats anymore. Sure glad it is such good news. Hope we get to see you at Sequim Bay CBGT 09 on the 22

Anybody looking for a 19, this is the one, no matter where you are, it will be worth the trip.

R-Matey is a fine boat and as someone has said, the karma alone is priceless. My sugestion would be to toss in one of those potato pins to sweeten the deal, and also as a good luck charm to the new owner. In Cahoots, Idaho

The new owner picked up the boat this morning @ 10 am...now why didn't I think of the potato pin but I will make sure he gets one. The former R-MATEY had a PENDING on it within a couple of days of the original advertisement. Our deepest thanks to TyBoo & DaNag for this wonderful site :love :love

Thanks to everyone who made such wonderful comments about our beloved 19CD. Thanks too for the phone calls and emails.

:thup SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD :thup

PS: It was really hard watching her as she went down the street behind someone else's vehicle & knowing that she wasn't ours anymore :cry

Congratulations... sorta. I know what you mean when a boat that you've enjoyed so much leaves the family. That "two happiest days" thing? Yeah, not always accurate. On the bright side, you know there is another R-Matey that will soon be filling the void.

While there will be some who will tell you what a LONG month or so this will be, you have time to visit LFS, West Marine, etc, etc.

We look forward to cruising with you again... and the new R-Matey.

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan

Congratulations Ruth and Joe. I know you're looking forward to getting your hands on that 22 and doing the good things to it that you know how to do!
