SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Spent July 1-11 cruising the San Juans with Kim and our golden retriever Sunshine. Stayed at Jones, Island, Deer Harbor, Stuart Island (Prevost Harbor), Sucia Island (Shallow Bay) then back to D.H. and then to Friday Harbor. Launched at Bellingham.
Great trip on the 25, so glad we moved up!
Wonderful weather and connections with Susan E, Catch 22, Little Bit and other boaters in the islands.
Went crabbing this morning out of Everett and took nephew and his buddy and got 3 limits of crab!
Salmon fishing is next! Love Summer on our C Dory, heck, love all seasons on our C Dory.

We too had a great Sunday!
The Blue Angels Air Show at Pensacola Beach, at the top of their game.
A 1.5 hour beach hike in the 110 degree heat advisory (we're well acclimated and protected).
2 Coors Lites at 36 degrees (you should always measure this with an infrared digital thermometer). Don't drive for 4 hours or more.
Cooling clear Gulf surf waters at only 92 degrees.
Reported a dead Loggerhead 150# turtle on remote section, Ranger there in 30 min.
Cabin at 94 degrees, but we almost have goose bumps with big insulated iced Gatorade mugs and the front window open at 25 MPH.
Marina cleanup, RV rooftop AC to Eileen's fav of 72 degrees (76 in the V berth...we put out a lot of heat, I suppose, even with fan).
Bought $100 of fresh, cleaned, ready to cook seafood at Joe Patti's to last us a week or more.
Rogerbum...your TC255 is no doubt envying ours, so don't let her know about this thread.
It don't git no better than This.
Cheers!

John - No doubt! My TC255 would enjoy the warm weather and the more refined styling and treatment that your TC255 receives. However, I suspect that your TC255 is secretly feeling just a tad ashamed that you bought seafood when she was available to help get some on your own. :wink Perhaps it's best if they never meet and exchange info.

Agree...
but I just want you to know that I can catch a limit (there is none) of 5 to 6" Hardhead saltwater catfish (rats and feral cats snub them)...so I'm not a TOTALLY incompetent Fisherperson.
Keep posting, I learn a lot from your experiences!
Cheers!

I tried to post yesterday, but the connection lost my message. We are in Calif. The C Dory has done well behind the RV and today the Yukon. We broke the right hand RV mirror in Junction Texas, (Pergola overhung the site,) I was watching the "host" who was motioning me forward, as well as watching the left mirror to watch the C Dory behind the RV…and "BANG", the mirror snapped off at its base. Long story, but finally found a Home depot, and made an aluminum bracket for the RV mirror, along with duct tape, JB weld, and some fiberglass cast like material, we have a functional tow mirror (all accomplished alongside the Freeway in 109 degree heat!

Other than moving at 2.5 mph in Louisiana for 2 hours, we averaged 425 miles a day, and had a rather un-eventful trip across the US! (so far 2100 miles) One of the trailer tires is wearing with it bald outer edge, on one side, and still tread, on the opposite side of the wheel. I think that the wheel is warped! (Got new wheels and tires for $70 a wheel/tire last year!)
I'll post photos tomorrow or when I get a better connection!

Yesterday I removed my aft arch bracket for my inflatable, from the boat, and gave it a dose of "SPOTLESS STAINLESS" to "pasivate" my 304 bracket an hopefully decrease the rusting spots on my "stainless". I will be on the water (salt chuck) for a bit, later, and wanted it done to see how well this stuff works. I know there is a thread on this process, and I'll post to that after I know how well it works. I have to say, the stainless pipe feels smoother now.

Excited about my wood working skills increasing...took me 3 versions...1st was in plywood....2nd was with some scrap hardwood (never assembled) and 3rd was with Sapele wood (similar to mahogany I believe).

Holds water bottles, cups, stuff....sanded it really nicely and put a polyurethane coat on it. Looks great!!!

Forgot how to enter link for photo so have to look in my 2015 album.

This weekend I moved the Tomcat down to Ilwaco and Sunday we fished salmon in the ocean. We fished in about 30' of water N of the North Head lighthouse. We took our limits of kings and coho for 4 people on board. Here's a picture of my best king for the weekend. That's a 120qt Igloo cooler and the tail had to be bent a little for it to fit in. This fish is around 38" long and about 20#'s.

We signed up a couple of months ago for the 2015 Sidney Poker Run not knowing what to expect as far as other boats as all were welcome. As yesterday drew near I realized we were well out of our class but decided to jump in with both feet. Well let me tell you it was one of the best days ever !! We had a blast. 38 Boats entered. Long course 88 Miles, short course 30 miles which we did and collected all our cards at the five stops. We ran mostly between 4500 and 5100 so the gas disappeared. All boats were go fast boats from Hydro's to 37 foot cigar boats except for the lone 22 C Dory. The final stop was Mill Bay and lunch was provided and I have to say they welcomed us totally and we made new friends. There was not one ego in the bunch and all great people out for fun. Wrapped up the night with dinner, dance and presentations in Sidney. Not sure how we won the Directors Choice Trophy for most appreciated boat but that we did.. A great run event and tons of fun.

I always stuck to the "KISS" principle when upgrading the boat, but I just installed a rear view camera. My days of swiveling my head 180 degrees to see what was coming up from behind me have passed. Having to stand up and turn around to scan astern was to much. Now I just glance up at the monitor. I love it.

A while back I was making a run from Key West to Fort Jefferson when some yahoo comes screaming past, maybe 30ft off my port side. Understand, with the whole Atlantic Ocean to run around in, this idiot tries to run over me. If I had turned to port....

So now, I can keep an eye astern at a glance, and it has infrared for checking the cockpit at night. I love it.
