SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Took off for Blaine, WA Saturday afternoon. We wanted to check it out as a midway stop for Vancouver BC. It has a very nice marina, a couple of good restaurants and West Marine within walking distance. Sunday off to the Fairhaven section of Bellingham, picked up a buoy, dinghied ashore, good food at the Collophon Cafe, a great bookstore next door. We were all settled to spend the night when the second 100 car coal train went through squeaking madly as it went around a curve...enough of that so at 8:15pm
we raced down to Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes, got there at 9:15, an easy night and a great breakfast this morning. There is no bad day boating!

Had 3 friends come to dinner. 5 adults aboard for a full on steak on the barby dinner with libations and salad and crackers with dip and corn on the cob, and cake for dessert friends who maybe thought we were roughing it on our little 22. They left converted. Fun evening. Outside galley works well. Stove running on the splashwell table and bbq on the rail kept tummies full. :thup

With the muggies and high temps now a daily reality in SW Florida, I needed to get more air into the cabin than the two sliders allow. So I chose a 9 1/2" Bomar which allows ample air into the helm station. Easy installation and looks good too.

Took my 3yr old on an ocean cruise (through the neighborhood) and had dinner on board last night. covered many many miles considering we never left the side of the house. He had fun and I read up on owners manuals and enjoyed a warm Wallas :beer

I serviced all the engines. The 2.5 Suzuki really needed an oil change; that thing works really hard. Reminded me just how much I hate working with hypoid gear oil.

Pretty cool Dustin. I had a boss that would take a 6 pack and sit in the boat watching the world go by. Glad you are putting the boat to good use, even when it is not on the water. Digger (Ron)

thanks Ron!
that's not a bad idea actually. I found it was a good opportunity to spend some time with the boy and also get some reading on the many manuals you left me with. Found the old 1988 original sale documents too, very cool to have, its like having the original receipts from a classic car.

Launched in the salt today and I am posting this from the vberth, thanks to local wifi. This is my first overnight so even if we dont catch fish tomorrow, I am still happy as a clam.

Today was a big day for us. covered over 50 miles of cruising (most so far) from Pt Defiance, up around Vashon, Blake, and eventually mooring at Eagle Harbor City Dock with a walk down to the Public House for a GREAT dinner. Came back, cruised the Foss Waterway to make note of future downtown overnight locations then called it a day.

Also got Coast Guard inspection at Defiance today (with flying colors), I wish I had gone CG when I was younger.

Also towed the boat with our Cherokee for the first time. I had been apprehensive about that as I've been quite spoiled to always tow boats with dad's 3/4 ton cummings, but the Hemi towed it just fine! (although it was thirsty)

on a side note, Tyboo... if you're still handing out photo albums I'd gladly fill one ;)

Did the upgrade on the nav lights. Now Chromed brass and with LED lights. Wonder if anyone has put any sort of reflective material in behind the LED's?

Also put on my new Vessel Safety Inspection sticker. All while it iwas in teh barn. Marina parking lot was too crazy this weekend.

The new LED lights looked plenty bright last night.

Also checked the Chan 28 radio check from Mystery Bay. Was able to trigger the auto response but the recording was pretty scratchy. Did get a readable copy from the Point Wilson buoy.

Still have some issues on the radar, chart alignment. (Time for some more homework.)

Took our CD22 down the Sturgeon Bay ship canal nice and slow. Headed out onto Lake Michigan which was completely glass today. Nice relaxing cruise before we head east on the motorhome for a month.

Next time we'll be on the boat, we'll be launching the boat in Blaine, WA. Very much looking forward to seeing my 20yr old son in Vancouver and cruising the Pacific Northwest.

Went to West Marine and purchased my very first new anchor. Every boat I've owned came with an anchor, and over the years I replaced them with better ones I found while scuba diving.
Last week I noticed that my rode was fraying at the splice near the chain. I was planning to re-splice it tomorrow after our dives today. After the first dive I pulled anchor. Just as the chain neared the windlass the line snapped and down went my nice Bruce anchor and forty feet of chain.
I marked the spot in my GPS, but it's out in the middle of the sand where underwater visibility rarely gets more than ten feet. The next time we have good conditions I will try to find it, but in the meantime I bought new ground tackle. My backup anchor is too small to trust in big seas, so I didn't want to use it as a replacement.

On my C-Dory today I.............

Repaired the wash down pump...AGAIN. Could not find anything wrong with it so I whacked it with a small hammer and volla..........away it went. For how long????

Also repaired the trailer lights. No it was NOT the ground this time. It was the crimp connectors in the plug-in pigtail plastic protector sleeve. The saltwater won. I cut all of the crimps out and replaced them. Lights work fine now.

INN-THE-WATER is in the Hingham Harbor water waiting to be used. Got a little cosmetic work to do on her in that she was not in the water the last two years. Inn is sold. Wife wants me to sell the boat. I told her I would sell it under one reason which is not to be broadcast. So far it looks like I can keep the boat for a while. Also got a Roadtrek V190 at a good deal for use in the fall, winter, and spring.

Pretty busy. Where have all the BRATS in New England gone? Got old and sold their boats!.

Having a wonderful four day weekend aboard the No Pressure. On Thursday and Friday we dived the Pinnacles off Pt. Vicente, Rancho Palos Verdes California. I hadn't dived there since we bought our Tomcat in 2010 due to strong currents each time we checked the site. It was not only diveable this week, it was very nice as far as near shore diving in SoCal can be.
