We were in key largo for July 4th stayed in a 5th wheel but brought the cc23 we stayed off the ocean 5-7 ft waves so we stayed in backwater and sounds near pennicamp state park it was a 200 mile tow each way from Naples fl.the only boat problem was trim /tilt went out the last day so Monday its find the problem day hopefully its just the solenoid or ground?

I didn't do anything with my boat today. Didn't even see it. But Jamie and I did get to see Janet and Roger in their new Dreamer at Fort Stevens State Park where they are staying for a couple nights on their way down the Oregon coast. What a treat. They are delightful folks. And their fifth wheel RV is beautiful.

Driftwood Drei is a USCG Auxiliary facility....and so, while the water is soft, that what I do sometimes!
JOBBIE NOONER (the Lake St. Clair equivalent of the wild-and-crazy times when alcohol-might-be-a-factor event) was cool and squall-y...so we didn't get that busy on patrol (every other crew was wet, but we were C-Dory dry).
I go out tomorrow to help with the Gold Cup Races on the Detroit River.... usually a rather active time helping spectators-in-boats stay safe!!

Had a fantastic weekend island hopping south sound. I highly recommend Swantown Marina in Olympia as an overnight stay for your vehicle. only $3 and patrolled by security at night. the marina is large as well if you stay. we headed out and visited:
Boston Harbor Marina
Fished south of Harstene Island
Stopped in a Jarrel Cove
Had lunch in Allyn, WA
Circled and located Mcmicken Island, Hope Island, Stretch Island as well as a number of other places. all mentally notated for future camping trips once we have a dinghy fastened down.
also caught a couple limits of crabs

We had a great time out at Neah Bay this weekend. Joyce and I went out Friday and got the boat fueled and ready to go for a Sat. trip. We stayed at a cabin at Cape Resort Fri-Sun night. Friday evening another couple joined us and after a few drinks we hit the hay for a 6AM departure from the docks. Myself and the other guy got up a little earlier and loaded the boat with some ice. We ran about 30 nm from Neah Bay SSW to the "Compass Rose" area to look for big kings. We trolled for a long time with very little action and after relocating a couple of times eventually started to find fish. We got about 3 kings and filled our limit with hatchery coho (8 fish total). I caught perhaps the biggest coho I've ever caught as this one was around 20lbs. We got back to the dock around 7PM and processed and vacuum packed the fish until well after dark.
Sun AM we got up with the plan to go tuna fishing and hoped to be off the dock around 6AM. Again, myself and the other guy loaded up the boat with ice (this time, 250-300lbs). We needed fuel but Big Salmon resort was out so we had to wait for the Makah mini mart fuel dock to open at 7AM. Made some cinnamon rolls on the boat and got to the fuel dock 10-15 mins before it opened so we were first in line. We put in about 50 gals to get the boat back to full and pushed off around 7:15AM. We ran out past Tatoosh and set a course for the end of Nitinat Canyon. We slowed on the way out at "Blue Dot" to check the sonar for fish as there was a lot of bird activity there. After a brief stop, we continued on looking for warm blue water and lots of birds. Never found any particular signs of life that made it clear we should stop and fish so we continued on a course of about 220degrees.
By 11:15, we decided we had gone far enough as we were now about 68nm offshore (75nm from port). We had recently passed a big pod of pacific white sided dolphins that played in our bow wake and that's usually a good sign. I turned out that we picked a good spot as it was only about 5-10 mins before we landed our first albacore of the trip. We trolled about 5nm farther and picked up a few more along the way and then started doing figure 8's in the place where we caught our second fish. We wound up hooking a total of 18 albacore between 11:15AM and 3:15PM and landed 17 of them. The water temps ranged between 65.5 and 66.9 degrees.
On the way back in, we stopped at Blue Dot and fished for salmon for an hour or so. We caught two 20 lb kings and a couple of hatchery coho to round out the day. We ran back in averaging 30MPH with an few stops to observe - more pacific white sided dolphins, many humpback whales and a large pod of orcas. We hit the dock at 8PM on the dot and got some more ice on the fish before turning in. Monday AM we spent cleaning and vacuum packing fish and cleaning the boat. We split the fish with the other couple and I pulled out of Neah Bay around 2PM with a 168 qt. cooler filled to the brim with layers of fish, ice and a little rock salt. Spent the night in Sequim so I could avoid the ferry traffic and caught the first ferry home this AM. The fish we frozen solid by the time I got home at 5:40AM and my freezers are now completely packed a combination of tuna, coho and king. All-in-all it was a great trip.

Sounds like an amazing trip Roger. how far can you go on a full tank of fuel? Any pics from the trip?
That depends on the speed. At normal cruise of 20-ish knots, we'll get about 2 miles per gallon. At 30-ish knots we probably get around 1.6 miles per gallon. If I slow down to 6-7kts, I can get around 5-6 mpg. On a typical trip that includes a mix of trolling and cruising. I figure on about 2MPG overall.DuckDogTitus":2xffiamt said:

Anyway, so you have a post that you are typing and you want to add a photo.
1) Got to your album, find the photo and open it up so it's large (not just the thumbnail/small one).
2) What you then want to do is get the "address" of the image. The exact wording depends on your OS and browser, but it will be something like right click on the photo (or control click on a Mac) and select either "copy image URL' or "Properties" and then the image address. If you have a problem with this step check back here.
3) So now you have the image address (url) copied. You come back to the post you were typing and paste it in where you want it. Then (or later after you finish typing), you highlight that address in the typing box where you are making your post, and go above the typing window and click on "Img" which you will see as one in a row of small boxes. This will put image tags around your photo address. I have noticed that oftentimes the ending image tag (you will be able to see them) gets put on a separate line and I have to backspace to get it back with the address.
4) Test to see if your image is going to show up okay by hitting "preview" at the bottom (instead of "submit"). If the image shows up properly then you are good to go and can submit the post. If it does not show up properly, then it won't post right either and you have to sleuth out the problem. For me it's usually that I hit another set of tags by accident (say URL instead of Img), or that the ending image tag ended up on a next line and I have to close that gap. Then I Preview again to test it.

I prefer to have a photo album here with the brats because its relevant and can have some neat stuff for fellow brats to see, but sometimes a photobucket account is nice, and there is a very easy "click and past" method.
