SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Filled my new gas tanks. They are odd shaped and I did the calculations when I designed them. Math is a wonderful thing, they each held 35 gallons, just like the calculator said they would.

Trailered the Tomcat up to EQ yesterday with a list of items to be done. 1) Add a macerator pump to the fish boxes (mine didn't have one as the previous owner didn't want it). 2) Add a raw water washdown system. 3) Drill out the corners of the fish box lips so that water will drain from the lips into the bilge area. 4) Increase the scupper area/functionality. Should be nice for fishing this summer.

Installed the Blue Sea Systems Add a battery on my 19' Angler and the new battery in the port lazarette. Mr. Taxman is kind to me this year so next will be my electronics when I get the refunds.

I went down to the boat and just read for a bit. It's a great mancave for a winter weekend.

I do that in both my C-Ddory and my Sea Ray up at Shasta Lake, and have been known to go out to the C-Dory, even when it's in the RV Barn instead of at the marina, and do it. :smiled

And I wasn't even in The Doghouse, either! :smileo

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!

Fortunately, my wife of 44 years understnds! :love

Who needs a psychiatrist when you have a good understanding boat? :wink

Joe. :teeth :thup

Let's see. The boat now has a new bimini top, had window shades, screens for front center window and a zippered one for the door made at the same time. Moved the boat to a different shop a few miles down the road to have a windlass installed, and a long laundry list of new goodies done from new VHF to new carpet on the trailer. Next is to test all those goodies.

As I was taking an afternoon cruise in nasty weather today, it was tough going at times, due to occasional poor viability and wind, then out of nowhere, the rainbow ended boldly in front of me. Another memorable afternoon in the C-Dory.

In anticipation of springer fishing next week I actually fired up the two honda 35's this afternoon. I put in blue stabil when I covered it up in october and drained the bowels. I was really concerned after this long if I would have a problem. They fired up immediately, what a relief. Now if the fishing would just go that well.

I've been thinking about, researching and planning this project for awhile now and finally completed it this weekend. It seemed fairly simple in conception but the execution, as always, took way longer than I wanted.

Phase I was to take all the extraneous connections off of the battery terminals and connect them to dual bus bars, one each for the start and house batteries. I installed the bus bars on the sides of the lazarette by using 5200 to glue 3/4" plywood and screwing the bus bars to the boards. As is probably the case for most of you, the wiring inside that incredibly tight starboard lazarette was extremely messy and my goal was to clean up the connections. Phase II was to install an Blue Seas Add-A-Battery system for the batteries, with the goal to make it very simple to select the switch position to on or off as well as maintaining proper battery charging distribution and isolation.

Bottom line, the project cost much more than anticipated, took much more time than I wanted (1 1/2 days), didn't really clean up the lazarette that much, there's still a mess of wires everywhere, but on the bright side, the connections are clean and the project is DONE!! Did I say how much I hate that (%*@#!) gosh darn tight lazarette. I could barely get the batteries back in. :x I forgot to take before pictures before starting the project so therefore no after pics either. Doesn't really matter since it's still a mess of wires in there.

Oh well, my goal for this boating season is to cut down the boat projects to a bare minimum since this has been a work in progress for 7 years now, finish any of the remaining projects by April, and just go out and enjoy using the boat, not working on it this year.

Got to clear the home "To Dos'" today. I want to be 'more' ready with a clear conscience to run to the boat... We raked the yard and I cut the grass for the first time this year :( . The lawn mower did start the first pull, so all is not that bad and I was done in 2 hrs.

 OH My. I need a new hot water heater in the house! Well, looks like I don't go to the boat tomorrow after all. just get out the old check book.

I still have my health. I might as well smile at the day for I still feel blessed.
Maybe next week I can play.

You can always come to the Pacific NW in the summer.

Today I went up to EQ to pick up the Tomcat. We had macerators installed on the fish boxes (the previous owner ordered the boat without that), a raw water wash down installed, some holes put in the lip around the fish boxes (so they won't get wet inside unless we want them to) and the rubber flaps in the scuppers were replaced. Had a nice chat with Les and Dusty.

On the way home we stopped in Everett and launched the boat so we could make a few adjustments to the trailer. In brief we moved the boat back 10" to reduce the tongue weight and to get the boat positioned closer to how Thataway Bob had his Float-on trailer set up. It rode a lot better with the reduced tongue weight.

Roger we usually get out of here for a month or two for summer way to hot 90-95 with 90% humidity not great .

When we lived in Bellvue, WA I loved Seattle area My wife did not like the rain So I took a transfer to south florida .
