SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Finished opening up the vee-berth yesterday (I had a jagged cut to fix, came out great), pix when we get our
Taco Metals 1/2" trim from GoMarine, splitting a roll with David on Anna Leigh. A little teak oil on the wood, cleaned a bit. More to do. Biggest job is to mount new 4 step swim ladder!

Just hit the visitor dock at Klemtu. First time we have had wifi since Nanaimo. Great weather so far including Cape Caution. Going to see if we can get a look at the big house here in Klemtu before heading north again.

Over the last 2 weeks:

1. Broke 2 fins on the port engine ProPulse prop. Replace with onboard spares. Didn't see or hear anything hit. Just an over rev on the OB.
2. Broke 1 fin on the port engine ProPulse prop. Same place in the water, 6 hours later, same nothing seen. No spare on board. Ordered new.
3. Replaced prop on port OB. Hub was cracked too.
4. Replaced the forward Bilge pump, 1100GPM with the new "electronic" switch pump. New and improved. Leary of that, but no option there.
5. Fabrication in process for an inflatable rack. Hope it is done soon.

Spent yesterday on the water, PT rowing race safety boat project and then cruising the Strait of Juan de Fuca on a good day.

Added a BMV-600 battery bank monitor. Started out being one of those quick projects right before we leave on the boat for a month to me rewiring the battery area. I bought a negative bus and put every negative on the bus from the 3 battery banks. Then I put all the hot wires onto the BEP VSR twin switches (which I already had installed).

Everything went great and now I have house battery bank voltage, amps being used, amp hours used, charge %, and hours until end of battery.

Finally got the boat over to newport for some fishing. Launched around 1:00pm on saturday. Wind was already up out of the northwest. Really uncomfortable but wanted to fish and try out the radar so headed south a few miles to a well know reef. Shut down to fish bottom fish but the drift was really brisk. We did manage to catch our ling cod and then slogged back to newport. Went out again early sunday morning and went south again to catch bottom fish. Was going to troll salmon after bottom fishing but we ended up catching some more lingcod and sea bass. By noon the wind was shifting to south so decided to quit winners. A really nice weekend on the oregon coast. All new systems worked flawlessly. Checked my batteries this morning out in the driveway and they showed 100%. The battery management system works flawlessly. Did see a 2007 22 cruiser just down the dock from us, cooking a limit of crab. They aren't on our forum as they didn't know C-Dorys are being built again.

Got back from the beach today, and started on the new SeaStar system. So far the old Teleflex cable is out, and I didn't even have to cut the cable. It took about an hour for the cable, and twenty minutes or so for the helm.

Tomorrow I start on getting the SeaStar in. One big plus (I hope!) so far is the hole in the dash is a tad bit larger than needed. I should just need to drill the four holes to secure the helm pump.

If anyone wants the Teleflex cable system, it's yours for the asking. I am in northern Oregon.

The only profanity for this portion of the job was when the cable end and a gear hit the v-berth cushion. If anyone knows how to get lithium grease out of Sunbrella, PLEASE let me know.

Chapter two to follow.

Plastic props? That sucks. Props aren't cheap.

Replaced the round white slippery cabinet knobs with satin finish 3" U shaped handles. A much better grab when hands are wet or slippery.
Also tightened up the cabin door hinge screws. Put broken tooth picks in the holes so the screws will tighten up,
Tomorrow I will replace the fuse blocks behind the dash. The ones that came in the boat are a POS.
Of course this will not be done until I rototil my wife's flower beds and weed whack all of the dandelions.

Took two other couples and my bride out to watch fireworks from the water last night. Great show!

No moon coming in, no lighted channel markers, only dayshapes, some with only the pole and no red/green on them. Fairly skinny water (2-3'), the "GoLight" paid for itself last night. I was able to scan in front of the boat (remote control) for crab pot markers and the dayshapes.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I finally got to the fuse block replacement. It went very well. Everything works as designed except the anchor light and it did not work before the remodel.
I checked the bulb for continuity of the filament, found no DC at the bulb base on the shaft, took the shaft off---no DC at the base of it, DC at the switch though.???? ...a conundrum. I don't anchor at night anyway so it is not real important. The coasties probably don't see it that way though.
After removing I inspected the original fuse blocks, what a POS those are. No wonder things quit working intermittently.
They are both in the "can".

Now onward to more important things like fishing.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Spent Sat. AM washing and waxing the boat. I'd previously only done the roof. I have to say one of the downsides of a bigger boat is that there's more to clean/wax.

Yesterday we got out late in the AM and launched at Everett. Picked up some fuel at Everett Marina and ran down to the Indianola area to drop crab pots. Trolled for about 3 hours around Jeff Head trying to pick up a coho or two with no luck. Ran back to the pots and pulled 5 keeper dungeness and 2 keep redrock crabs. Split the catch with Brad and had a nice crab dinner. Saw Nor' Irish at the fuel dock in Everett and a red 16' on the way out from Everett.

We had a haulout into the weekend for new bottom paint and I installed a new transducer, decommisioned the old one, and put on three fresh zincs which was more than it needed. Having a look around the motors lubing this and checking that, I noticed what appeared to be a crack on the inside on one end of the transom. I felt my heart sink and grabbed a light and stool for a closer look and it was actually just a little flaw (lip/fold) in the gelcoat on that inside corner which was now the highlight of my day. After she when back in the water, we picked up over a knot in speed with that fresh smooth bottom!
