SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I think the trip up for the boat will be a quick forth and back. Too many things going on. And keep in mind, Les, I'm not rushing you at all on the boat, nor complaining. If it wasn't for that, I would just find something else to whine about. Now Dave and Bill, on the other hand(s), might be a little more antsy when you get your hands on their boats!

Oh, and maybe Dusty better run out and check for a big hole in the bow. My dad said he ordered that windlass online, but you never know.

:D OK, so here's what we did on Miss Mirth today. Marty, Dotty, and Joe had a big adventure while Anne and Lizzy stayed home. We put in in Everett -- where we met for the Snohomish trip -- and went south about 20 miles. Our destination was the north end of fishing area 10. We tried out our new crab pots for the first time and came home with 9 red crabs. This was our first trip on Puget Sound by ourselves, and it was a great day. We posted pictures here on the Miss Mirth album.

What a fun time. We saw another C-dory or two out as well. :D

Looking forward to more fun with the club soon.

Mike,
If Les get's Tyboo done so it would be ready for you on the 13th, you could maybe run up, drop it in at Lake Washington ,cruise it around with us for a while and make it back in good time. Speaking for us ,I plan to be out of the water before dark, which makes it around 5 or so. And you will already be about 1 1/2 hrs closer to Warrenton.
Gee ,if we go through the lock we,gotta fill it up with as many C-Dory's as we can to keep the off-brands out. Your Cruise Ship might be the difference. Dont' let us put any pressure on ya... heheheh.

JoeP -

What brave souls! It's good to hear of your great day. Watch them red crabs, though, they're mean, fast and strong!

Thanks for the tale and the pictures!

As for the TyBoo25, I heard a rumor that it may be as soon as next weekend! Whenever it is, I am afraid the trip up and back will be a quick shot. Lots of things going on, and lots of things to do to get the boat ready for adventures.

Kay says she won't be going along when I go after the boat (grandma Christmas duties, and all). I have started trying to talk my dad into riding along, so we'll see how that goes. It would be cool. Him and Dusty could hang out. Dad don't hear so good, so it might be quite a shouting match. He hasn't even seen the TyBoo25 yet, and he likes the new truck, so I hope he goes for it.

Had a great day yesterday. While Kathy and the girls and Granny were soaking up some culture at a children's production of the Nutcracker ballet, I took Piper (yellow lab) out on the Otter. It was blowing WNW at 20 with gusts to 35 on the Potomac. We surfed south for a ways and beat slowly into the waves where the river turned west. Lots of spray crashing against the windshield, which always gives me a good feeling warm and snug in the weatherly Otter's wheelhouse. Beached it on a sandy bank and hiked around for a bit. Piper found some good smelly stuff to roll in and I watched gulls, ducks, and geese trying to keep warm along a lee shore. Was out for about six hours and only saw one other boat underway. Love having a boat that allows for a 12-month boating season!

Tom- A beautifully told story about a beautiful day. Here we are, you on the Potomac, me on Puget Sound over 3000 miles away, sharing our enjoyment of our C-Dorys on the water. Thanks Mike, Bill, et al for creating this site.

Yes indeedy, Tom. It sounds like you soaked up a bit of culture yourself. Nature, culture, whatever, it was good. Great reading, and thanks for thinking about us when you got home. Did you get Piper bathed before the family got back?

Nothing-- absolutely nothing!!
But I did go for broke at WestMarine.
Purchased Bennet trim tabs and the auto controller for the tabs, a new seat and shock absorber for the seat. New sospenders, dive ladder and other items too numerous to mention
Now the fun begins- winter project time-- and this is some of our better cruising weather for the Channel Islands

Today I got the MG out of the shed and the CD into the shed. Well, part way in, anyhow. For some reason, the 25 doesn't go in as far as the 22 did. Huh. I backed the cockpit under the roof, and then strung a blue tarp from the shed eave out over the bow rail. I tied it down real good, so we'll see how it takes the wind. It looks like gypsies live on the far side of the drive.

OK - it's time to get to work on the thing! I stopped at WM yesterday and got some 2awg boat cable (ouch! 25' red + 25' black = a hundred and forty bucks!) to run the house battery up to a disconnect at the helm like I did on the last boat. One switch will turn off everything inside the cabin. I like it that way. The heavy wire will also allow me to connect the windlass up front. I like that, too.

Got called into work early this morning, and while we were waiting for them to get started up after the job was done, I cut out the holes in a switch panel on the milling machine. I'm getting anxious to start the wiring project.

(Note to Les: I am tired of MGB's. The price is going down on the two I have. Quick! Make a bid!)

Kathy and I kicked off the new year yesterday with a short cruise on the Potomac on flat water and under clear skies. We docked at Old Town, Alexandria and had a great brunch at restaurant near the waterfront. The kids were still up at Granny's, so we had plenty of time to relax - the only nap we had to get back for was mine!

Happy New Year to all the C-Brats!

Yesterday I picked up some hardware for my Barber Chair project and today I hope to 3M a block to the cabin side to hold another table bracket for mounting the table back out of the way. Next will be to try the chair in place to check the fit then it's time to lay down the new cork plank floor. After that the seat goes in for good and the boat projects will get a lot simpler.
The weather has turned out to be a partner in this project. Since the roads are so crappy and full of gravel Judy doen't want to go over the pass to Portland so I get to stay home and work on the boat.

Sunday was unseasonably warm here and I went on a cruise with my 3-year-old Claire. After a few hours, in which she at a lot of trail mix and we wandered around the shore of a little creek nearby, the clouds closed in and the wind picked up. As we made our way back to the marina, Claire sighed and looked distressed. I thought that I'd kept her out too long without a nap and the bouncing around was bothering her, but she said, "Dada, I wish we could sleep on the boat tonight." That's my girl!

Tomorrow I am off to Iraq for a couple weeks. Hope to have a chance to post a howdy to all the C-Brats from Baghdad!

Today I looked inside my poor boat and thought about shoveling out some of the ice and snow. I had visions of falling off the trailer due to it being so slick and thought it best to enjoy a hot toddy :tea :embarrased

Installed shorepower/charger system. I also cleaned up the electrical system behind the helm. I also put in a HOA switch for the factory bilge pump. Why they don't is behond me.
My next project is installing radar. I won a bid on Ebay for a Raymarine radar, now I need to get a radome for it. This will give me something to do at the boat show.
I posted some pictures of the shorepower install.
