Slide Show - Wandering the IP to Alaska

George and Penny,

Sometimes my other half just amazes me. After watching your narrated show very intently and small gasps at some of the beautiful scenery, at the end she had one comment: "Where did they do their laundry -- they didn't show THAT..."

Hmmm, that was probably item #50 or beyond on my list of concerns. But now that she's asked, were you able to find laundry facilities at some of your stops or did you have some kind of system on board?

There are laundry facilities at most of the marinas. Prince Ruppert Yacht Club, Shearwater, Ocean Falls, Ketchikan all have coin laundries, even Dawson's Landing had a washer and a dryer. Other thank that you need to think garments that are easily washed and dried on board when you have nothing else.

After putting C-Batical up for the winter it makes me want to pull her out and go somewhere. As I wait for winter to end, you filled my thoughts up with wonderful dreams of what can be. Thanks again

Thank you for sharing this with us. What a great job you did of putting your experiences together in a form we could all enjoy. I'm sure it will inspire a lot of other C-Brats, including me, to take their boats on similar adventures.

Thanks David on the laundrimats. Thinking about it, most of those stops expect boaters and know certain activities are needed. Glad to hear that it won't be much of a problem -- although time spent at the laundry is time that could be spent much better exploring. I will continue to work on the wife regarding a similar trip someday.

Dear George & Penny,

We are heading for Alaska on June 21st and will be returning on July 4th. We won't be doing the low and slow of C-Dory Cruising, but taking Royal Cab and doing the motor coach and Alaska Railway.

However, I have been enjoying your slide show in preparation for the trip. I far exceeds anything else I can find on the web in relationship to what my interest are and I wanted to thank you again for your efforts in producing this wonderful slide show.

Hope to see ya on the links in central Florida one day.

I would love to see this slide show :thup but, although I did successfully download the file, I apparently can't run an ".exe" on my Mac (without downloading an additional program and also having Windows -- if I understood correctly).

Just wondering if there is an easier way that I'm missing, or if anyone has converted the file to something either more universal or more specifically Mac.

(I do have an Intel Mac, but don't have VMWare, Parallels, etc, nor do I have a modern version of Windows.)

@Pat: A man needs to do what a man needs to do....knowing it was out there to be retrieved in the first place is a good sign that the ole (1) brain cell was still working.


@Sunbeam: I am here to tell ya, this slide show is worth buying you a PC...to see. I promise ya. Wish I could help you with the Mac thingy...but never went over to the dark side.
 
I tried to download the slide show with win7 and it did not work. It seemed to not download the whole file and that file would not execute.

Has anyone else been able to download it recently?

Worked fine for me on windoze. It's been along while since I watched this excellent show but I sat through the whole thing again and "drooled"

I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if anyone has a suggestion. Also, I just sent a note to a "computer whiz" friend of mine who does have a Windows machine, describing the basic situation and asking if it would be possible for him to download it and convert it to a format I could watch. Said friend is an avid boater and would enjoy watching it anyway, I'm sure.

If I do hear back that there is a way to do that, I will check with the original author, and if it's okay, I could then share it in this thread (if it's not okay, then of course I won't) (and it may not be possible anyway).
