Shots fired! Boater down!

Hey Karl-Dotty, who reads everything and everyday, chuckled at you post and commented ;"yeah, it was sort of like that...."

Perhaps, with the imminent confluence of Solstice, lunar eclipse, and Festivus, our 'airing of grievances' is, well, timely...

Interesting that this (River Horse) should show up. I just recently acquired a copy. It is on the shelf, trying to find the time and motivation for taking on that project. I think I have met more non C-Dory owners who have mentioned or read it than owners.

Well, if anyone is interested in what River Horse is about, it's for sale, used, on Amazon Books for $4 which includes shipping. Same for the other books by William Least Heat-Moon, which Bob mentioned above.

Cheaper than the gas to get to the library. Though at the library you get more than one book for the price. Good way to spend a couple of evenings this winter.

OR, you can read something light and easy...

... and, it has a lot of C-Dory content. Even features some of the folks on this very forum. Yes, really!

Do we have a shameless plug emoticon?

I've never understood why Mr. Least Heat-Moon couldn't just slow down when he got into big waves on Lake Erie.

On the topic of reading, though not in a C-Dory but very much about our waterways and cruising grounds is "1812, Rediscovering Chesapeake Bay's Forgotten War" by David Healey. I know it sounds really dry, but, it is surprising. It is less about the history and more about a trip around the bay visiting the places where the war took place. It is funny and light while still educational and it gives some neat ideas for summer cruising grounds.

I must say I am agreeing with most of the comments on River Horse. I was worried it was just me, but apparently its dryness is a universal perception and his attitude...well most of you have already said it. I will struggle on a bit more.
