shipping a bimini top

I found a bimini top for a 22 that is for sale after the boat was damaged in a storm. They guy wanted $150.00 for the top, which is reasonable, but he said the shipping would be another $150.00 from FLA to VA.

I was wondering if anyone had experience shipping a bimini for a more reasonable rate.

I can't help you with the reasonable rate issue, but be sure it's insured for enough to replace it!

Damage to aluminum tubing, sailboat masts, and all that kind of stuff is very common!

I know of someone who had to ship three 22 ft. masts from Southern California to the Bay Area before he got one that hadn't been run over by a forklift!!!

Maybe it needs to be crated for safety??? (Adding to the shipping weight / expense.)
