Seattle Boat Show - Friday 1/31/2014 - BREWERY dinner/talk

I expect that I should be able to arrive around 5:30 or 6 unless the border is slow... hopefully I won't be too late for food or Sam's talk!

Due to a last minute cnx, I am now able to attend the brewery.......I hope it's not too late for the dinner. If so, I can eat in the brewery and then attend Sam's talk. Thank you.

Is there room for two more on Friday Night at the Brewery? We are looking forward to meeting everyone and catching up with another Delta Extravagenza cruiser, Jon on Gypsy River. John and Laurie

Cheryl and I are at the Silver cloud and will need a ride to the taproom Friday pm. I can't seem to find where the meeting place is for the ride, and have not run into any C-Brats as of yet. Help! Roger

Hi, I will picking up the van today around 3 to 4 and picking up people in the lobby or between the hotel and the boat show at 420-430. See you there.

Hello All! we l.are going to need a ride from Silver Cloud hotel to the pub this evening. Thomas is there room in the van us? Or maybe we can squeeze in with another brat or two. :). As I write we are awaiting our flight out of OAK to SEA. Thanks John and Laurie

I told the brewery staff to expect about 40 - I will ask what our ability is to handle more than that at the buffet, but (A) there is ample room upstairs for everyone to congregate, drink beer and hear Sam's talk, and (2) if folks show up above what we are able to feed at the buffet, you can eat off the regular menu. I have NO IDEA at this point what the final count looks like. Once there was a list I think, but it has not been updated for months! I will contact staff right now to see what our ability is to deal with more than 40 for the buffet.

Thanks for that Greg. I also provided the staff at the Taproom with a link to the list in an email a couple of weeks ago. We've been over 50 people for about a week now. It looks like we will be closer to 60 with the few I have yet to add. However, I'm betting there will be a few no shows and it is possible to buy food separately from the Taproom on the first floor if needed.

As far as where to meet - as I have indicated previously in this thread

The plan is that Tom (with the Van), myself (in a black VW Jetta) and Andy (in ?? Andy??) will meet the C-brats who need a ride at 4:15PM on Occidental Ave S. just N and W of the N end of the exhibit center. We'll depart promptly at 4:20PM with an intended arrival the brewery around 5:15. I've put the van rental on my credit card and I'll let the group know the exact per-person contribution for transportation when we get there (about $12-13/head for all who need a ride). I'll have a box or bucket in the van for people to put their cash in and those in a car can pass the cash to me or Andy. As I stated above, it seems most fair to me to just take the total cost of the van, divide it by all who need a ride and collect that from all who need a ride. That assumes that those driving their own vehicle were going anyway and don't expect anything for driving a few brats there. That works for me and unless I hear otherwise, I'll assume it works for others. I anticipate we'll leave the brewery sometime between 8:30 and 9:00 for an arrival back at the hotel/stadium between 9:15 and 10PM.

For those that need a more precise location - we'll meet within 100' of 47 35 51.33N and 122 19 58.81 W (degree mins sec). This is near the area where shuttles meet to pick up people for transport to the on the water show. Police or others directing traffic will likely prevent us from hovering for too long in that area so we may have to circle by once or twice. I'll print out some 8x11 pages with the words "C-BRATS" on them to put in the window of the van, my vehicle and Andy's vehicle.

I'll hold back for 10 mins or so to catch any stragglers. I can be contacted on my mobile phone if needed (phone below in a format that will hopefully prevent web slurping of it). I will be in a black VW Jetta.

The brewery has been advised to expect 56 people for our wing-ding tonight arriving around 5 p.m.. For a groups of our size, they generally do one bill for the entire buffet, but since we were so loosey-goosey on our count, please individually pay $15 per person for each person who partakes! And please remember, the staff works hard to put this kind of thing of for us, and really appreciates any gratuities you see fit to bestow! This may be the last year we are able to do it this way, I understand their frustration with our not giving them a hard count until the day of the event. Next year, upstairs at the brewery will still be available, but it may require RSVPs and advance payment to one C-Brat who then settles up for the buffet, since I am no longer the guy making the rules!

Good food and drink, great people, and a wonderful presentation by Sam Landsman. Thanks to all who made this beautiful get-together possible.

It was nice to put some faces with with the nice people on this site. I forgot to pay my tab and I've sent a pm to Pat. Sam's talk was great. Thank you. Larry

Went to the boat show with the family on friday. Tried to find the c-dory based on where it was supposed to be according to customer help desk. Never found it. Oh well at least we got a chance to walk on all the big boats which is the most fun for us anyways.

Took some photos of other boats and got some good ideas for adding a short awning on the back off the top of the cabin. Looking forward to getting pricing on such an endeavor.

A side benefit was that on our way back to the car, we ran into Dan and Tonya (ddenver) and got a chance to see them. They are some of the nicest people we have met on the brats forums and a big reason my brother in law purchased his 22 right after the Laconner gathering in 2013.

While we did not get to attend any of the gatherings surrounding the boat show, we are looking forward to the Friday Harbor Gathering in May. Between now and then, I gotta get the boat ready for cruising again.

Marty,

It was really great to get to see you there. Looking forward to the lake trip. Thanks for the Root Beer and company and the insight on the 16.

Really enjoyed Sam's talk, great photo's and details. he is true adventurer and ambassador. Fun to get to see everyone and catch up some. Thanks to Pat for setting this up again, and including the sound improvements, and for the good food -(He "approved the menu" and it worked.)

Thanks to Tom, Roger, Pat, David, etc for all their hard work. The Brats are a special group. In the next several years we hope to see everyone on the water
