Who was it that works at the old C-Dory factory near Demoines that can do fiberglass and gel coat repair?

Buck Williams, who built your CD22...it is now called Tern Marine Salvage.

We've seen this name about, anybody actually have any C-Dory work done there? Seems it would make good sense. Just curious.

I called their answering machine several times in the fall but never got a call back.

I can speak about the quality of work that is done at Tern Boat Salvage and it is very very good. They do top quality work. John Hiram the owner has been in the fiberglass business and building & repairing boats forever. Buck Williams as you know built C-Dorys for years before Reynolds ran the company downhill. John also has another employee that has been in the boat business for years and know them inside and out. One of Ranger Tugs top gel-coat men also comes in after work at the Ranger plant to help at Tern.

How do I know all this? Because that is where I am having the fiberglass work done for my new boat, the Marinaut 215. This is the old C-Dory plant when the Tolands were still building the C-Dorys.

I just came back from there a few hours ago and John said he would be happy to do repair work for any C-Brat. When you are there, take a look at our boat the Marinaut 215. You might even catch Ben Toland or his brother Mack, working on the Marinaut.

John also said any of you are welcome to just stop by for a visit to check out his shop. His phone is not manned much of the time so if you leave a message, state the reason for the call. He does not always return anonymous calls. (No name or the reason for the call on the message recording.) Tell him you are a C-Brat or that I suggested you call and he will return your call.

Dave- Just to clarify.. I called down there three times. Each time I left my name, phone number, the fact I wanted some work done on my 16 foot C=Dory, and a list of things I was considering, including installation of electric wiper on port side, a swim step, a shelf over the helm and moving the VHF to it. Perhaps they don't do that kind of work. I called them because of the recommendation of the C-Brats, although I did not mention that I am a CBrat. No big deal. I wish them and you well.

Marty – I was surprised by your last post until I re-read the thread. I saw this thread the other day before your post, then talked to John Hiram about it, then came back and made my post without re-reading the thread. I can see where someone reading it could assume my post may have been about you. For that I apologize. I should have re-read the thread before my post and would have noticed your post. I would have re-worded it so it was clear it had nothing to do with your attempt to contact Tern. I have no idea why John did not return your call. I won’t speculate or get involved in a discussion about it other than to say I am sorry because you felt you had to defend yourself because of my post. It had nothing to do about you or your post.

Thanks Dave, for the post and phone number. I have some work I am contemplating and will give John a call.

Marty, I'll see what happens this time.
