The Sea Beagle II will be in the west Traverse Bay from August 14th thru the 21st. Post a note or P.M. if anyone else will be around.

Nice movies on YouTube. You guys need to narrate them though. I can hear sound but no voices, it would make it a lot more interesting and might make you famous!

Thanks. I normally keep quiet so others can hear the sounds as I heard them. Besides, you might not want to hear what I say when I'm in the Detroit River. also there are 13 new videos up there since yesterday.

Levitation will be at Hessel on the 14th, going to Detour later in the day on the way to Drummond Island... Not C-Dory, but the best I can do...

Hessel is a bit far. But, on your way to Drummond island, stop by the southern end of Government island. There is a nice quiet cove with no homes around. Watch out for rocks everywhere through the area.

We did end up meeting Levitation in St. Ignace briefly. We both coincidentally found the same overnight parking spot. And I realized how small a 16 cruiser is to a 25 tug. Currently we are anchored off the west side of Mackinac island. We'll be here for a couple more hours before leaving to go to Traverse Bay.

It is interesting how things can work out....
With Levitation loaded, we headed North at 3pm.. What with stopping for supper and other messing about, we crossed the Big Mac into the UP of Michigan right at dark... As you exit the bridge there is a state highway department rest area so we pulled in for a break and to decide where to stop for the night... The discussion went until we decided we were too tired to go on so we pulled out the step ladder and went boat camping...
Bright and early next morning I took Pasta (poodle) out for a walk and a very smiling lady was walking a handsome dog... She came over and asked if this was Levitation... It was the Sea Beagle II... They had pulled into the same rest stop at 2AM .. A very pleasant visit was had... Reluctantly we parted company and went on our planned paths...
This morning we are in a slip at Yacht Haven on Drummond Island... Other than a freighter trying to run us down in the Detour Passage it has been great sailing so far...

Cheers to all...

Denny, Char, and Pasta

We pulled out early this morning due to expected high winds (20-30). But, decided to go shopping in the Leelanau peninsula. We also had time to meet with a member of the Traverse City Power Squadron and get our yearly vessel safety check. Passed with flying colors. Currently we are in Suttons Bay with a slip for the night. It's our first time getting a slip. The winds are expected to die down tonight and give us good weather for the rest of the week. Hopefully tomorrow and the next few nights we will be anchored at Power island in the west Traverse bay. We also heard a new name for for our boat. Darling.

The bay at Drummond went to 4 footers late Sunday so we thought we would sit it out for a day.... Another day and a half of 20-30 knots was predicted on Monday... Sitting out a total of 3 days in the marina was not tolerable, so I opted to endure the seas for the the 8 mile run back to the boat ramp at Detour starting at 1PM... It took us 2.5 hours...

All I can say is that the R25 is one tough tug... If you ever get caught in breaking 7 footers on a 1.5 second period, worry not, this hull has been tested by me and found to be exceptional...

Watched your videos of Lake St Clair and couldn't believe it. I used to live on Selfridge in the early 90s and Lake St Clair was NOT clear like your video, but pea soup green. I certainly wouldn't have gotten in it.

The pea soup green has moved further down river for the most part. And yikes! 7 foot waves! We rode with a few solid 4 foot waves on our way to Power island this morning and that was enough for me. It's real calm on the east side of the island now. We've been swimming, rock hunting, dog walking, eating, and napping. This is how we like it. :smiled :dog

Wow! Our quiet night at Power Island changed dramatically this morning. Our light west winds which we are sheltered from turned to the northeast at 25 mph. 2 foot waves hitting us sideways 20 feet from the shore. The passing thunderstorms wasn't a big deal this morning but, this winds are a bit too much. They came up so fast that we barely had enough time to let out more anchor line to get us in line with the wind. I'm glad tha last night I put some large rocks on both anchors. We're gonna have to sit this out for a few hours. This trip has had more than it's share of wind and waves.
:sad
