With the Christmas season approaching is there a Scotty pot puller on its way for the guy who has already bought everything?
Have any of you tested this out yet?

I was considering the Scotty puller as well but opted for the ace line hauler instead. The Scotty has a very short boom that may cause your traps to scrap along the hull, maybe this is a none issue. Quality wise the Scotty has a lot of plastic on it as well, seems to me the ace line hauler is of a much higher quality.

I've looked it over, and am pretty sure that there's good strength to the scotty. Plastic can get pretty strong. They make football helmets out of plastic. That said, I am dealing with the same decision, and I will be installing a proper davit, 6.5' tall, with the new Ace power head and sheave. They are pretty reasonable. I don't want to do a downrigger mount device because I will be using this gear to pull a longline as well as pots. A sting of halibut can get pretty squirrely and I don't trust a downrigger mount to handle the movement.

I got lucky and scored a nice aluminum davit for $50. It would have added about $450 to get one made. I'll likely spend a little money modifying it and mounting the Ace puller and sheave.
