SBS 2021 CBGT - Zoom

Hi,

I propose a CBGT on Zoom this Saturday. I have never hosted a Zoom meeting but it doesn't look so hard. Saturday would align with past years gatherings.

I would need 1-2 people to run a test with me this week sometime.

I have a Zoom "Pro" account, and act as a moderator on several regular Zoom meeting. I am sure that there are many members who have more experience than I do--but would be willing to help. There can be some pitfalls, and one needs to have a specific format and agenda when starting a meeting.

You may want to put information on "What's life". That way non members cannot join. Using a public forum can lead to a host of issues by spammers, and disrupters.

Yup - the wife and I Zoom every week. Not hard, download the app to your phone or computer, someone volunteer to be the host (pro version is best), set an agenda and away we go. There is a short learning curve, how to mute you audio, how to salvage a session with a weak signal by turning off your video, possible use of a waiting room by the host, method of invite, how to display the session on your home screen, use of "shared screen" function, how to use a double monitor, length of the session and so forth. It does not take long. I am in, there will be schedule conflicts but they will settle out. As I am West Coast (but not by much - in Nevada) and some are East Coast, we would need a time that does not conflict with time zones and sleepy time. Hope to see ya!!!!
Bob Jarrard bobjarrard@gmail.com for an invite!!!!

Don't fret - Zoom is easier than posting pictures on our Forum!!! I even had a name we might consider "Chat's in the Cockpit" with virtual coffee and donuts - no masks needed. I was a bit resistant at first but in the three Zoom groups that I meet with every week, we have had zero flamers, no scammers, no uninvited guests (they are Bible studies so we would love to have un-invited guests), no disrupters (is that a real word), and no issues other than some folks have really poor bandwidth. Some folks are using their cell phones and that works fine, just a small screen. This would be a great way to have DIY vids without having to record/edit, to do walk arounds of new boats/modifications, and we could invite guests to share like some of our faithful dealers/the factory.
See ya.

We can use one the professional accounts with anyone as "host". the owner of the account would 'patrol" or handle the "waiting room".

Be careful what you wish for!

A friend's virtual church service was crashed/hacked by an old man prancing around in the nude.

Send that crazy due to our Friday Men's Zoom Study, we have developed. with a foreign government not to be named here, a remote Taser that works in the Zoom Chat Room. It is aim able and has a virtual Drone Camera that records all the dancing, screaming, and falling down. You can guess ow valuable this will be in the next Presumable Election (yup - spelled right). Given that I do not have NetFlix or any other pay to view channels, I would welcome some free entertainment. Bob Jarrard

Here is a link which was sent to Zoom hosts (not sure if just subscribers got this or not)

Here is the link.

Basically it outlines if you should have a zoom meeting--is the meeting necessary. Then being specific on the agenda and purpose. Rules for inviting and opening.

I would propose a "sign up sheet"--with e-mails sent to the person who is going to be moderator.

I moderate a college class (1958) of about 50 meeting members. We had one computer hacked into apparently--and that hacker took Zoom meeting information and disseminated it. Also would send all of our members a number of false zoom meetings. We had to involve the administration of Zoom to finally resolve all of the issues.

Also don't give our your personal account number on an open forum.

Not sure who is wanting to take the lead here.
