After all of the trouble I've just gone through removing a corroded Tilt Pin :sad I'm wondering if anyone makes them out out of Stainless Steel? :smiled Jack

Sorry I could not resist. I had lots of corrosion on my Honda 90 also.
 
YAMAHA-HA-HAA[/b] :wink Back Atcha...I think they originally Cad. plated those things and it never lasts. :sad I guess it's off to the local scrap yard for some bar stock.The 6hp is looking a little sad too :smilep :smiled Jack
 
The book calls it a "Tilt Pin Thrust Rod" on the Evinrude 40hp. :smilep
On the 6hp they just call it a "Tilt Pin" :crook Anyway, it should be stainless, but it's not :sad .... :smiled Jack

Agreed ! My pin is rusted too. Sadly, so is my tilt-tube(also NOT stainless) and the item I linked to is in my future. I was hoping you had some pointers on removing it. From what I've read it's a bear.
 
If what you're calling "Tilt Tube" is the one where the steering slug runs back and forth. :thup I tried to remove as much rust as I could with oiled emory cloth on the end of a split dowel in a drill motor. Then I carefully drilled and tapped a hole for a S.Steel grease fitting through the casting on each side. A rust stain will continue to bleed out with the grease, but your steering wont seize up. :smiled Jack
