Rooftop Cargo Racks

This past weekend we attended the Friday Harbor gathering. One of the many reasons we like the gatherings is to see how other C-brats customize their boats to suit their needs. One of the items we must copy is the cargo rack atop the Kim Christine.

Is anyone out there using a Yakima or Thule type cargo carrier on top of their C-dory? And if so, how is it holding up in the salty environment?

Thanks,

Karl

I use Thule with standard gutter mounts. They work good however I haven't had the opportunity to use them with salt water.

Karl,

It seems like there are quite a few Rangers that are running with the "upstairs trunks". Might look around on the "Tugnuts" or pose that question there.

Thanks for the input on the crossbars guys. I'm sure the crossbars and cargo racks are finished in the same process. Harvey, I'll throw it up on the Tugnuts site and see if anybody's using one there.

Thanks for the info John.

I went ahead and ordered the thule moab cargo basket. The crossbars and baskets are all powder coated so I'm sure it will work. I'll throw up a pic when I get it all mounted up. When REI fulfills their back order that is.

Got the rack all mounted up. I can see this working out well for us on our extended trips as well as fishing trips. It's a Thule m.o.a.b. with extension.

The way those girls of yours are growing you are gonna need more than a basket to tote stuff around. Was great to see you, and your crew.
