With the kind of beautiful weather we've been having in the last few weeks it makes a boy just want to get the boat out and cruise even if I did go by myself.
Launched at the entrance to False Creek in Vancouver BC. Cruised from there across the Georgia Strait to Gabriola Pass in the Gulf Islands, around Valdez Island , back through Porlier Pass and back to False Creek.
I chose this route because Larry on Helen O was asking how long it would take so I though I'd get him some accurate info.
False Creek to east entrance of Gabriola Pass 2 hours & 20 minutes, 24 NM at 10 Knots average. It was pretty rough in the strait 2-3 ft with the occasional big one thrown in to keep me interested. A pod of Dalls Porpoises gave me a honour guard for about 5 minutes which was great.
Away from the strait, inside the gulf islands it was smooth as glass.
Return trip Porlier Pass to False Creek, 1 hour & 40 mins 26NM, conditions were much better 1-2ft. 15 knot average.
Beautiful sunshine, great scenery and time on the boat. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
