My friend has a 1998 Raytheon RL-70 B/W chartplotter with a ST-60 Tridata D/F Speed with a Auto pilot Pathfinder RL-70 Radar .Also a ST-5000 Auto pilot .I hope I got that right anyway He wants to upgrade to a colored chartplotter will a c-70 or c-80 raymarine work ? Will the radar plug right in also the Tridata plug in ? Or does he need to buy all new What are his choices ?

He was looking at Garmin will the old Raytheon radar and auto pilot plug in ?? Also where is the best place to buy this kind of marine hardware. Thanks in advance
Hope to see a lot of C-Brats at the Gathering We got our thur night tickets Thanks Matt G.

Raymarine has a pretty good tech support site, try that. There are a LOT of FAQs there and if they don't find the answer there, a tech will respond by e-mail, usually within 24 hours.

The new C-Series may be compatible with the radome he has. The SeaTalk data for the Tridata gauge and autopilot will also plug in.

None of the Raymarine gear will work with the Garmin chart plotter. I personally feel that Garmin has made some real leaps forward and is the one to beat today. It is certainly the one which is the easiest to use (OK--some of the soft keys seem to take more strokes than the hard keys)...

Also look closely at what will happen with RayMarine in the next few years. Last August until Dec 18, 2009, Garmin was involved with talks about taking over RayMarine. Those apparently have concluded with Garmin withdrawling and some other single entinity interested in bailing RayMarine out...RAY stock price is at an all time low.
