DaveS, boy I think they may be screwing up putting you in charge of the vice flotilla :)

Ken, either that or they know me as well as you do to put me in charge of vice..... :disgust

Congratulations Terry :!: You picked a good day 'cause now to get in 20 retirement anniversaries you'll have to be retired for about 80 real years. Good on ya'. Enjoy, the time, the family and the boating. :hot :rainbow :thup

Congrats. You were the first c-brats that we met in Hale passage. I'm semi retired and Penny retired full time last fall. Right now we are in Europe during the off season and enjoying every minute!

Terry,
This is very good news for sure, congratulations from Toni and I. We look forward to seeing you both at Friday Harbor and around the islands this summer.

Terry,
Congrats. It won't be like you expect it but at least you are free to make it what you want :-)
Hope to see you out there this year. wrt your note about Desolation, we may be there about that time too so keep us posted.

Retirement is wonderful!

So many options are available, and even simple things like being able to walk your dog in daylight is delightful. Volunteering and having time to swim regularly have been lots of fun for me, as well as doing a project or reading a book cover to cover whenever you choose are also right up there.

Enjoy!

Amen! The VA has a program called MOVE. It's an acronym for something. Besides lots of good motivation and resources, they give you a pedometer. So, I'm walking over two miles a day early in the morning. I walk down the hill a mile to McDonalds listening to my favorite talk radio. At McC's I have a small decaf and a burrito. Then I walk home uphill listening to music on my Ipod. It's easy and enjoyable, watching the town wake up and indulging my passion of looking at cars. Ironically I use a cane on the downhill way out, but just march along to the music's beat (and the hill is a long steep one) on the way home. A good time for thinking and for not thinking.

Now the dark side of retirement, Terry - you will never, ever again be able to take a "vacation"! The explanation of that odd statement is here.

BTW, I do have a countdown widget on my iPhone now!

I've been eligible to retire for a year & half. What helped me decide to go now, was the Taproom dinner in Snoqualime (sp). Talking to several people that have been retired for awhile, everyone said "I don't know why I waited soo long"
Well that did it for me.
So it hasn't been that long since I decided to go. I never had time to set up a count down clock. I've been busy with the paper work, getting my finances in order and finishing some projects at work. It wasn't until the last two weeks since I've counted down the days.
Thats a good thing, now that I think about it

I still have my Buzzard, 8 ball and fish hook count down (a play on the USMC insignia) that I colored in as the end of my tour in Chu Lai RVN approached back in 1969. May have to revive that one of these days! Of course dealing out a deck of cards in bridge suit order is also useful way to commemorate the last 52 days leaving as you get to the Ace of Spades.

Again, congratulations.

Congratulations. You won't see how you had time to work in a few short months! Enjoy retirement--and do those things which you want to do NOW. Don't put them off.

Welcome to the ranks of the retired. You will be so busy you won't know how you had time to work. Dr. Bob has it right. Do all your travelling and exploring ASAP while you both are still able. ROCK and ROLL. Roll now because you will be rocking later.

Terry,

Congratulations on your retirement decison of which we've discussed several times over the past years. More time now for boating and other things, too.

Your friends, Ruth and Joe

PS: We enjoyed seeing you and Ann during the Seattle CBGT. That was a most enjoyable surprise :thup

Terry a BIG congratulations !! The post office's lose is the C-brats gain --- we look forward to having you out on the water with all of us for more extended cruising.

You and Ann will love Desolation this summer. I think we're all going to take the place by storm. All the cruising "great whites" won't know where all these cute little ants, known as C-dorys came from !! Gotta love it !!

It was really nice to see you and Ann at the SBS gathering !!

Isnt it great to be at this stage of our lives! Kids launched, time to be just us again, before the kids, the mortgage, the pressure of making ends meet.

I am happy for you. For us it's 2-3 years away. Hope to get a Camano 31 and do the loop.
