Repower Yamaha 90 two stroke!

I am looking at repowering our 22 C-dory from a Yamaha 90 hp two stroke to a Yamaha 100hp four stroke.

Main reason is to improve on the economy of the two stroke. In Prince William Sound there are few places to get gas and we need the mileage out of the four stroke.

Has any on had experience/known problems with a 2000 Yamaha 100 hp four stroke? It looks like Yamaha went back to the 90 hp for later years. Any one know why? What would be a good price on a 2000 100 hp?

Thanks, Duane

Yamaha and mercury had the same engines except for oil filter location and cowling the eng blocks were identical 1.6 built by Yamaha . Yamaha marketed their eng as a 100hp and mercury at 90 hp same with yamaha 80 and merc 75 these were all the 1.6 block carberated eng . The new 90yamaha are fuel injected I had the f115 which was the fuel injected model and the 1.7 displacement. very nice very quiet and fuel efficiant .

I repowerd with a f115 this year and I love it. I don't think they still make a f100. Weight hasn't been an issue since I replaced a Honda 90 the difference was only 37 lbs.

I have a Yamaha F115 on a different boat than the C Dory, but if I had kept the 22 and had to repower, it would be with the F 115, great engine. I am getting over 5 miles to a gallon with aboat about the same weight as C Dory22. I think it is worth the extra for the 4 stroke injected engine.
