Replacing bilge pump discharge hose?

My bilge pump discharge hose has totally disintegrated. As you know it runs from the pump behind the port fuel tank to two discharge fittings on the port side of the hull. Is there any way to replace the hose without removing the fuel tank? Do those discharge fittings (stainless or chrome)remove from the exterior of the hull? If so, how is it done? I tried the search function without any luck.

I'll sure use a better quality hose when I replace the bad one.

Thanks much in advance.

Harper, generally the thru hull has a big screw nut on the inside and that must be removed to take out the thru hull so, no, cannot do it from the outside. The only way to do it IMHO, if you can't reach around/over the gas tank, is to pull it out. Shouldn't be too bad and will give you a chance to check if the screws that hold it down are properly "bedded".

Harper,

I was able to add a second bilge pump and discharge hose without removing the gas tank. It wasn't easy and involved alot of reaching and stretching, but I got it done. On my boat there were two outlets...one for the original bilge pump and one for the port lazarette, which was set up as a bait well. Since I have a battery in the port lazarette, I just disconnected the drain hose and used the outlet for the second bilge pump.
