Repairing Fill Connection on Freshwater tank

The fill connection on our 25 Cruiser has separated from the body of the water tank. The first time this happened was just before we bought the boat.
Radiator repair cement was used to do the job. Repair only lasted a couple of months.

We have purchased a small polypropylene heat welding kit and plan to reattach the fill connection to the tank body this way. Will mean working upside down in a tight space.

Anyone have experience in doing this repair? Kit seemed to make decent practice welds.

What I might do after you do the weld, is to rough up the surface of the tank, and then the fill pipe, just above the weld (leaving plenty to put the hose on (heat the hose in a cup of hot water before slipping it on.) with 60 grit sand paper. Then take the a couple of pieces of fiberglass cloth, and "G Flex" epoxy to re-enforce the welds. Should last a long time

If concerned about enough room to get the hose on, do this as the last step, after you have put the fill hose on.

I have done this on several poly tanks. (G Flex is better than the epoxies I used in the past for plastics).

Thankfully I dodge that trouble with our 25. I have however repaired lots of plastics and the best method I have used is this one. Strongest and longest lasting

I have used it mainly on motorcycle parts that deal with constant vibration and outdoor use.

Curious as to how you got to the tank outlet. The freshwater tank on Journey On, also a 2005 is buried under the v-berth. Any pictures?

And BTW, good luck.
