Rent A C-Dory

For all of you that would like to try a C-Dory before buying, icebound itching to get out, or would like to try new waters without pulling your boat halfway across the continent, let me suggest contacting Mark Gove of Wefings Marine in Eastpointe Florida (http://wefings.com/; Marc Grove <marc@wefings.com>). He has a 25 ft. C-Dory cruiser for rent (http://trawlerrental.com/). My wife and I just returned from a wonderful trip where we used his boat to cruise the ICW, St. Joe bay, and Apalachicola River. This area, Florida’s Forgotten Coast, is all about mild weather and seafood, either gathering or eating. Mark and his crew are very helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and bent over backwards to see we had a good time. My wife thought this trip would abate my desire to have a C-dory, sorry to tell her it just made it worse.

What an absolutely great idea.... I am often asked if anyone rents C-Dories by folks who would like to try one out before buying one.... heck I might even think about it, rather than tow my 22 cross country... and have to worry about parking and all that mess....just fly-in and take off...What a Super deal....

I also think that the rental C Dory is a great idea. Marc's boat is one of the older Cruisers--and has a composting head on the port side. Also the boat only has a 90 hp engine, so is run at displacement speeds.

I wish we always had "mild weather", but between the 75 degree days, we have also been under Tornado watch twice this last week, including currently, and had straight line winds of 80 mph last week. It is easy to find a protected anchorage, in the crusing areas which Marc allows.

We rented Marc's 25 Cruiser last April and had a great five days aboard. Everything worked well including the composting head and the Garmin 498 chartplotter/sonar. Boat also has a Honda 2000 EU genset, roof air conditioning and am/fm radio. Displacement speed is fine for the area as it gives you plenty of time to see the beautiful scenery. We found lots of good private places to anchor. Price is also a bargain in my view. Best of all, Marc and his staff treat you wonderfully.

The downside is that we thought we wanted the CD 22 but were spoiled by the size of the 25. We are interested in seeing the new V 23.
