Remote steering system

I'm looking into a remote steering system for my kicker motor. I don't need a full autopilot system. Has anyone used the Panther Marine system or intellisteer? Those were just a couple of the systems I found online. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Well the simple approach that works for me is a trolling bar attached to the main engine and a servo controlled throttle that is wired to the helm. The throttle control I've been using is called the control king and it has worked flawlessly. Maybe this is not what you had in mind but it's cheap and affective.

I don't know what you will be using the kicker for, so this may not apply to you. I have a rod that connects the main engine to the kicker. This works well. But, I sometimes just drop the kicker, lock it straight ahead, and steer with the main. There is the drag from the main engine foot being in the water, but it is minimal. Also, this method seems to limit the "wandering" effect that this flat bottomed boat has at slow speeds.

For my application, I don't need to control the throttle.

I have had some difficulties previously that cause me to not use my main motor while working groundgear (longline, pots, etc), which I do frequently. I use my kicker to get my boat around during these times and generally just run it with the tiller. But I would like to remotely steer it as well and am researching options.

I just had a custom swim step/kicker mount built and I installed it last weekend, and the motor sits well aft of my main, making tie in with a drag link a challenge. I had considered an independent cable steer for the kicker with a steering stick in the cockpit, along with a standard remote control.

For trolling, I like the idea of tying in, but may just do great using anchorout's system instead of integrating with my main. A stick for the cockpit and locking for trolling might be the ticket!!
