Any body heard from El and Bill recently? I haven't been on the site much lately due to work, but heard about something happening near the Dead Sea. Just caught this bit on the news this morning, there was a tour bus accident near the Dead Sea and there were several casualties. Don't want to raise any alarms, just hope they are OK and safe out on a boat somewhere.

Somebody come up with some good news here, OK :?:

He also sent an OK a hour before. Its hard for me to tell from looking at the Google map just where they were. He has been sending OK msg from points of interest. The earlier of the two does look to be from along their Hw 31. The second is from inside Amman. I can't tell what the buildings are. If we had a time that the accident occurred we could make a better guess as to whether they were involved. My guess would be that if they were he would have also sent a 911 and or a Help msg and this he did not do. What we do know is that he DID send an OK about 6 hour ago. This is good.

Somehow, I don't think Bill and El will be on a tour "bus" either. I'm sure they're OK!! :love

The good news!!!

I have no doubt at all they are have been and will continue to have one of there on going grand adventures that is the life they have chosen. Personally have absolutely no worry concerning them and the bad can happen no matter where they are or for that matter where we are. Would be happy to here more from them as they are on the move, but am content knowing it will all be written up on their web site in that wonderful style we all have enjoyed for years.

Jay, thanks for the good news from up north. I agree, they have a wonderful way of telling their travel tails.

flrockytop, I think based on the times of the report and the OK report from SPOT, they are fine still and again. Good News.

Thanks for checking on them for me while I was up at work still and again.

Back home in Colorado -- all's fine with us after an interesting trip to some fascinating sites. Kinda difficult getting used to so many guns all around -- guards everywhere for everything -- many in plain clothes, but the guys dressed in suits and with a bulge on their sides gave themselves away.

Had calm weather for the cruising - only one evening with two to three-footers. Interesting to note that the "red right return" is "green right return" on the Red Sea.

El did a sword dance with the Bedouin we visited in the desert of Saudi Arabia - she dressed in a djeballa and a head scarf (necessary for her all the time in Saudi Arabia). The chief gave her a hand-made bracelet saying "you have the most happy and gentle face I have seen."

Many memorable times (all good) we will share on our website when I find time after Christmas to write up a few tales.

The bus accident happened about fifty miles from us - went off the road, passing on a curve, with a bus full of Russian travel agents - in Israel, near Elat. We were in Aqaba, Jordan, across the heavily defended border. The driving is wild over there - our Muslim friends said it derived from an attitude of acceptance of one's fate, summarized as "inshallah" ("if God wills it") - so getting into an accident, passing a truck on a blind curve, is out of one's hands. Thanks for your concern.

El & Bill,
Glad you are both back and OK, and that you had a great time. Looking forward to seeing the whole story. You two rest up for a bit and then get ready to head back up top the PNW OK. Travel safe wherever, and
Merry Christmas

Welcome Home Bill and El. Enjoyed you OK messages... and following via SPOT... Had some family issues to take care of so was off line for a few days...but saw the increased traffic on SPOT and saw you were on the way home. I loved that.

Merry Christmas to you both!
