Reconfigured Galley

Sorry, I placed the above post while I was uploading the photos last night. I waited a couple hours for the upload to complete, but had to cancel as it was wayyyyy past my bedtime. Today the upload went much quicker -- so try again.

I asked Les about the removable helm seat modification and, as usual, he was gracious enough to tell me. He no longer uses the nylon separable hinges pictured in Little Catelyn's album. What he described took me a little while to figure out, but what he does is mount the seat on a 3/4" piece of Decraguard long enough to reach the back of the cabinet it sits on. Then he mounts a two-piece, mating, aluminum extrusion to the back of the cabinet and to the Decraguard. The extrusion is used for mounting tables inside RVs. I just ordered a section of it
HERE A stop block keeps the seat from sliding too far starboard and a hasp style latch locks the front of the seat down.

A removable helm seat is such a good idea, I don't know why I didn't think of it before. As Jimmy Buffett once said, "It's like the Jitterbug, it's so simple it plumb evaded me."

THIS IS FUNNY!

This extrusion is the same one that the original 1987 CD-22 Cruisers came with on their dinette tables!

You know, before the factory changed hardware to the second system, which wouldn't stay attached, and had to have a fix afixed!!!

No wonder Les knew about this extruded/detachable hinge system!

Joe.
