Charles,
Spend a bit of time on the "search" feature of this site and I guarantee you that you will find a multitude of "threads" on this exact subject (twins vs. singles). This is probably one of the most predominate subjects discussed since the inception (2003) of the C-Brat site. There are those that are adamantly in each "camp" and after you review these threads you will discover that the decision comes to whatever the individual believes "floats their boat" the best. (As for us and our boat we have twins and yes, i'd do it again....as to why?..... I'll for now refer you to the search engine so you can discover the many comments in "both camps"...my thoughts included). (Kinda like a homework assignment for you...... :wink )

When I am not running my part time charter business, I have to make a real living (Insurance, retirement, etc.) in the medical field. In my position in the hospital I deal with students all the time. When they ask me how to do something, I generally tell them all the ways to "Skin the Cat" for a particular task or procedure (to use an old cliche). But I do tell them exactly what the incorrect way is that will get them or the patient in harms way.

I respect the opinion of everyone I have met on this site thus far. That being said, I truly respect an opinion that is trying to get someone to explore all options, while expressing their personal perspective. Too bad this site doesn't have a "My Hat's Off To You" emotion icon. If it did, I would be using it now.

Amen. Marty (& Mike). And if you don't think twins are sexy, just Google it.
 
OK... I'll toss a new dog in the race..... just for the Hummmmm factor.

Take a look at the full hull power transom on one of my boats. It is awesome. It adds about 27" to the water line, a big wad of flotation as to keep the stern area and attitude of the boat flat with the water line....and... just about all the wiring and rigging are aft out of the boat...so, you get your full cockpit....if...if you wanted to cut out the lazarette area.

I am just saying.... and...it does not have to be all closed in and clean fiberglassed with boat matching pin strips if you just want to build one and try it from marine plywood. Wow...so if a motor well is taking up 20" of cockpit space....what % of cockpit space are you giving up?

I've often admired the "Rosborough power transom". If I could just figure a way to cut it off a certain Whidbey Island boat I don't think Merv would miss it do you? I mean he left his boat lying on the highway once. :twisted:

Seriously though. When I have to repower sometime in the distant future, if money and health allow I will certainly consider something like that. Adding almost 2ft of usable space to the 25's cockpit would be great.

I think it would be great for Sweet Pea to add that to his 16 and then add the twins. :lol:

Hands down the best device on a boat that I ever had is the full power hull extension. I love it and will more than likely build one of some type for each boat here on out. It just keeps on complimenting boating pleasure and fun and convenience. I love having all the cockpit space at my disposal. It is not made by Armstrong, but rather build from fiberglass which keeps down the noise from water hitting the empty "metal" container of an Armstrong add on.

It would be a great addition to any of our boats. I love it.

One person expressing interest Charlie thought a pair of 175 Suzi's on the boat would be sweet.

As far as a 16 C-Dory, particuarly with 4 adults on board, a good pair of 30s would be very nice. I had two props with the single Honda 50 on mine...one for when it was just me and one other person, and one when I was loaded down for extended cruising or loaded up with folks. When all loaded up, the extra room of a power hull extension and twin 30 hp screws would have been nice and more than likely done away with the need to change props....maybe.
